Summary
The latest Mystic Bayou novel from Audie Award-nominated author Molly Harper will have you swooning with passion and wailing with laughter!
Cordelia Canton is on a top-secret assignment: travel to Mystic Bayou and use her powers as a touch-know psychic to learn more about the mysterious artifact that’s been pulled from the rift site. She’s partnered with Brendan O’Connor, a rare male banshee whose tall, dark, and broody good looks are a major distraction. Before long, it becomes clear that the artifact they’re studying is sentient - and brimming with supernatural power. Can they harness its magic in time to stop the secret forces conspiring to steal it?

Great story, somewhat spoiled by the accents.
I love the way Molly Harper writes. I love the town of Mystic Bayou and the family of characters that she’s created, and I enjoyed this addition to the series.
But…
…I advise you read the book rather than listen.
I’m sad that Audible were unable to find an Irish actor to perform the role of Brendan. The ‘Oirish’ accent by Mr Davis was mostly an inconsistent lilt and a hard ‘T’ sound for some words that begin with ‘th’. I’m from Liverpool, which is pretty much considered to be the capital of Ireland by many folk, and I don’t ‘tink’ I’ve ever heard anyone actually say ‘tink’ instead of ‘think’ outside of a Hollywood movie. Each time he did it, it pulled me out of the story.
It was a relief when Ms Ronconi was being Brendan as it softened the sometimes strident tones that she gave her performance of Cordelia. Considering how insular that character was described to be it was a puzzling acting choice to make.
Eventually I cared enough about where the story would go to be able to let the discomfort caused by the voices take a back seat. It’s a real shame because with more adept accents the actual acting would have been perfect.

Always Be My Banshee
Another terrific romance mystery, where two anti-social people find happiness while solving the the towns biggest problems. Read brilliantly again by Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis.

Gentle, caring and fun
I loved this instalment in the mystic Bayou series, I love the way that Molly Harper weaves all the characters into each story whilst managing to introduce newcomers to the town and keep the story going at a great pace. This one made me smile, alot. It is gentle, sweet and a highly recommended listen, the narrators are perfect for the series.
