Summary
When you steal a hundred grand from some very bad people, the best way to survive is to stay small and quiet...
Possibly it's not to save a pair of drowning girls, not go 'viral' on social media and certainly not to let the local police take your passport, trapping you on a small 'party' island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea.
But Steve isn't the average guy, he's ex-military, ex-enforcer and ex-human. He's a one man nanite fuelled nightmare for those that cross the line, and he's decided that its time to clean up his act. He's going to make up for the things he's done, and save 'the little guys'.
It's a nice fantasy, but even he has to admit, it's really just a justification, because he's a very bad man, with horrifying abilities, and he's only just learning what he's capable of. He needs a reason to not go to the dark, and if that's hunting down the creatures of the night and beating them to death with their own femurs: well, he's just the man for the job.
Stolen money. Greek Islands. Werewolves and Enforcers...what could possibly go wrong?

great story in general but
really liked the first half of the story and was all really great.
i feel as though it went off track and turned into a bit of a romance novel as soon as ingrid was introduced.
still a good story but i personally like the gamelit style of story and dont particularly care for the romance stuff especially when it overtakes the main story line.
i will continue to listen to the second book and just really hope it gets back on track and doesnt just continue as a love story with other bits.

I want more
A massively exciting new LitRPG series where we forge ahead into monster slaying with a well thought out system of stats and interesting backstory. The main characters are a a good case of opposites attract but work exceptionally well whilst the supporting ones interact well in a mash up of action , adventure and anticipation of what's happening next.
Natration is done to the highest standards from the experienced pairing of Boucher and Threet with a firm background in the Genre.
One of the best showcases of LitRPG action yet from Cajiao and a must have for the listener.

Amazing
Originally came for the werewolves, but stayed for the amazing story.
This was a lot better than I thought it was going to be and I'm really glad I bought the book.
Can't wait to stop the next one

Its an interesting mix of aliens, fantasy, and lit rpg elements. its a little weird sometimes, but it makes me feel things so it must be doing stuff right. the only unfortunate thing is that the main voice actor is American but the MC is English which is odd.

If you liked rise of mankind series, you’ll love this!
After finishing the age of mankind books that are available, eagerly awaiting the release of the final book. I was looking for another series to get into.
Jez’s style and storytelling, are just what I love. This series is as gripping as the others.
I wish more people knew about what he does. Thanks Jez, you are a legend!!

Hubba bubba for the brain
I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. very similar to the authors other books, assigning stat points, gaining upgrades etc. Plus you get bang for your buck with 20+ hours

Brilliant gem
Exceptionally good story and writing! The narration is sublime as well.
Very very very good. Rollercoaster of emotions!
My only dissatisfaction stems from the fact that there are a few, very few, moments in the story where it feels like a small section has been edited but not the following bit, making the flow feel a bit.. Disrupted.
However, that is just a tiny inconvenience and this audiobook, and no doubt the whole series, is at the top of my favorites list!
