Summary
Thrilling, authentic, and action packed, this novel introduces soldier hero Marcus Valerius: a centurion stationed on Hadrian's Wall in the second century during a revolt against the Roman Empire.
Marcus Valerius Aquila has scarcely landed in Britannia when he has to run for his life - condemned to dishonorable death by power-crazed emperor Commodus. The plan is to take a new name, serve in an obscure regiment on Hadrian's Wall, and lie low until he can hope for justice. Then a rebel army sweeps down from the wastes north of the wall, and Marcus has to prove he's hard enough to lead a century in the front line of a brutal, violent war.

Fantastic....
Excellent story line, brilliant narration and damn realistic!!! Truly worth listening to as it brings the last years of the second century Roman world to life.

Roman adventure comes alive
An excellent yarn. The battle scenes had realism and authenticity. Performance well done. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to more.

Formulaic.
Formulaic. Lacking in legionary life details. Lacking in Roman cultural details. Personalities all standard tropes. Superboy wronged, Tonto sidekick, overcomes resistance of the old guard to become the most popular boy on the beach. Must avenge wrongs by the baddies, who are equally stereotypical. Considered asking for a return.
The reader is skilled, but almost cartoonish in his voices. I felt like I was reading a Hardy boys book and was 12 again.
There is far better Roman Military genre available. I bought this based on a reader review. I will not continue the series.

Good story
Where does Wounds of Honour rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Not the best but I have listened to a lot worse. Nice to be in the roman legions era, made a good change from the detective stories I often listen toot
What was one of the most memorable moments of Wounds of Honour?
The battle scenes one was there in the midst of the blood and glory, per haps not for the very screemish
Have you listened to any of Saul Reichlin’s other performances? How does this one compare?
don't know as the first book I have listened too
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
neither

Boring
It may just not be to my taste, but I found this really boring. It just didn't hold my interest unfortunately.
