Summary
A remote Highland castle. A dark and stormy night. A murder most haunting.
It’s Halloween, and when an elderly billionaire is discovered dead in the locked study of his stately Highland home, DCI Jack Logan and his team must race the worsening weather to get to the scene of the crime.
There, among the victim’s extended family and staff, Jack finds no shortage of suspects. Everyone, it seems, had reason to want the old man dead, and they all have something to hide.
Cut off from backup by the worst storm in decades, and with the cast and crew of a TV ghost-hunting show seriously cramping his style, Jack’s only chance of solving his latest case is by going back to basics.
But the castle’s residents won’t give him a minute to think.
Not even the dead ones....
Tartan Noir meets Agatha Christie in A Dead Man Walking, the 18th book in the number one best-selling DCI Logan Scottish crime fiction series from author JD Kirk.

Waiting for the next JD Kirk Scottish Crime Dramedy read by Angus King has become one of the highlights of my year. Love these characters. Love the spin offs. Love the whole Loganverse. More as soon as you’re ready please, JD Kirk. My credits belong to you!

Spooky
I read this in a village in North Essex in a house that's 400 years old with the ancient beams creaking and clicking with the intermittent burst of wind and rain. It's fireworks night and brave souls let of the pyromatic devices in the breaks of the weather. Even my cat is unsettled. J D you have surpassed yourself with this offering. Night have to wait for daylight and spring to read you again!

Brilliant
For me this is one of the best in this series, it’s definitely got Agatha Christie vibes but with the humour and angst of the other books

Enjoyable but …..
The story was mostly enjoyable but unfortunately it’s not JDKirk’s usual standard and seemed disjointed and definitely lacking ‘something’. Fortunately all is saved due to the superb narration by Angus King. Fingers crossed Jack Logan returns soon and that JDKirk’s usual magic gets back on track.

Not quite as good as usual
Didn’t enjoy this one as much felt a bit rushed. Angus King brilliant as usual. Looking forward to Hoon and Boy band and Heather and Tammy Jo though think they are inspired pairings.

Another fun witty engaging story
Loved it so much listened to it in 2 days. JDK is a master at capturing my attention in the first few minutes. AK is awesome at bringing the story alive. Perfect team. Talking of team I was so awesome to be with the team again to catch up with their antics. Tyler his usual crazy, TJ omg I love her. Logan and Shona make me smile. And Hoon…I would love more of Hoon. Such a giant heart. Can’t wait for next instalment… just wish JDK could bring out 3-4 books a year 😉🤣🫣

Logan meets Scooby-Doo
Entertaining and funny as usual. Had to suspend reality more than usual with this one, though!

The characters. The humour.
A slightly different book to the norm in this series with everyone trapped in one venue.
These novels always make laugh out loud some point!
