Summary

A Caribbean resort

Strangers thrown together

Is there evil in paradise?

Major Palgrave enjoys an audience, and, in Miss Marple, he discovers a captive audience too polite to walk away.

But midway through recounting the tale of a multiple murder, he stops suddenly when something, or someone, catches his eye.

Then, when he’s found dead the following day, Miss Marple suspects that someone wanted to silence the talkative major. Permanently.

Never underestimate Miss Marple

‘There’s no such thing as a disappointing Agatha Christie: there are only good ones and better ones.’
Naomi Alderman

‘Livelieness . . . infectious zest . . . as good as anything Miss Christie has done.’
Observer

The Irish in the Caribbean.

A reasonable performance of a typical Christie. Unfortunately the narrator struggles with Caribbean accents so that, for instance, Victoria occasionally sounds Irish and occasionally, perhaps, from Norfolk. I kept wishing that she might become a victim, thus putting both us and the narrator out of our miseries.

A Classic- Eloquently Performed

One of my particular favourite Agatha Christie novels and so well delivered here by Emilia Fox. Atmospheric, riveting and totally gratifying. A wonderful escape. Highly recommended!

Emilia Fox is outstanding

A fantastic performance from Emilia Fox, full of life, humour and warmth for the characters.
Wonderful story that takes you from a rainy cold day to palm trees and sunshine and..... Murder ....
I highly recommend this version, it's almost like watching a film thanks to narration. ( Emilia does 4.50 from Paddington if interested and gives another fantastic performance in that)

Highly recommended, perfect for dog walking and rainy days x

Miss Marple does it again.

I am a great fan of Agatha Christie and enjoyed this adaptation. It is good but not quite one of her best stories. Emilia Fox is normally very good at narration but this time is let down by the foreign accents and the terrible Yorkshire accent, although this does calm down. However, for all these gripes, it is still well worth listening to, especially on a wet cold summer's day in England!

Good plot but some dodgy narration

On the whole well read and easy listening. I enjoyed it.
However Miss Marple voice often like she's got a cold and Caribbean voices just terrible. Accent moves around the world and sounds more Irish than anything else. This is just a small section in the middle though so just grit your teeth and get through it.
