Dax and Margot

I'm loving the premise of this series, it's original as our heroes are not only mafia but shifters living under a curse.

The Dupree family was cursed by a Voodoo Priestess when their ancestor killed hundreds of her family/followers. The curse is something each of them has lived with but being told that before the end of the year, a year with two blue moons, each must find their fated mate or their whole family line will be forced to live as beasts for the rest of their existence is a new twist. But finding their mate is only part of the problem, they have to make sure that the remaining Brousseau family members, descendants of the Voodoo Priestess, don't sacrifice them to stop the mating and ensure their downfall.

This second book is, in my opinion, better than the first, don't get me wrong I loved the first book but Dax, is such an intriguing character with lots of depth. We first met Dax whilst he was serving time for a murder he did not commit. He's already spent three years in the worst high-security prison, for the most part in solitary confinement because of so many attempts on his life. When his father hires a new lawyer she is able to get him a retrial and he's released, a release secured by a huge bond.

Margot's now the is owner of a bar left to her when her father died, she's a strong woman who doesn’t take c..p from anyone. One night whilst alone in the bar, at closing time, a rough yet attractive man enters the bar, he says he's come a long way and needs a drink, but that's not all he takes.......

I found myself intrigued by Dax, he's brutal and unfeeling yet loyal to his family, he struggled to accept that the curse is real whilst trying to exact his revenge on those who framed him and perhaps find proof of his innocence that the court would accept. He also has to ensure that his family "business" continues to run smoothly. All whilst falling in love with Margot his fated mate, a mate who seems to fight him at every turn even going so far as to actually shoot him at one point!

Margo is strong, fierce, and prepared to fight, but how can she fight fate or the growing need she feels for Dax? I love how she pushed Dax to find the answers, and how she never backed down. I loved her resilience in the face of everything she was forced to accept and I loved her loyalty to Dax and her friend.

The narration of this book is by the multi-talented Thomas Locklear, his performance is superb and made this intriguing and different story come alive for me. When he growled, I got goosebumps along my skin and my dogs' ears pricked up as they looked for the wolf in the room!

Brilliant

Oh the narration of Thomas Locklear, he knows how to melt you.

Dax was made into a monster, by years behind bars and a brutal war with a rival organisation made him hard . The beast he can barely control was always there, and without a mate, it would soon take hold of him completely. Dax's family was cursed by a Voodoo Priestess when their ancestor killed hundreds of her family.

Margot runs a small bar and when Dax comes in after hours their connection is undeniable ,When Dax was released he was led to her bar because she was fated to be his mate. Because of the curse the Dupree sons had to find there fated mated before the two blue moons.

Excellent Story & Narration

So far, I'm really enjoying the Alpha Dynasty series; it's a wonderfully written and well-preformed paranormal mafia romance. The storyline and world-building are marvellous, packed with shifters, dark magic, action, suspense, revenge, and steam. Coraline and Gabriel are both intriguing and quite appealing characters, brought together by a curse. Coraline owns a veterinarian clinic in a small town, and Gabriel, a Lycan and the oldest of the Dupree brothers is a businessman with ties to the underground world. Despite their obvious differences, the chemistry is off-the-charts. Loved their journey, and I can't wait for the next book.

Once again, Thomas Locklear's narration was spot on. I can't imagine anyone better suited to perform Piper Stone's books. He always captures the nuances of the characters, the narrative, the emotion, and the intensity found in the pages, making the story even more engaging. Savage Brute was a fantastic paranormal mafia romance, one I'll highly recommend.

Gripping

I love everything about this book and storyline. Piper has written fascinating characters that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. I’ve said it before and I will say it again the combination of Pipers writing style and Thomas’ beautifully deep gruff voice this is the perfect audiobook for you.

There are some authors and narrators who all of of us jump to or are synonymous with certain genres. All I can say is when I see Piper Stone and Thomas Locklear is I’m in for an amazing time!

I think that this new series is one of the series they have excelled and collaborated on.

This book is has heart, passion and need that will curl your toes and leave you panting for more.

Oh me gee, that growl alone will leave panties wet all over the world!

You both have out done yourselves here with this book and I can’t wait for the next one!

Hot

Piper does it again, giving us the hot steamy story. This time, to my surprise, the woman didn't go willingly. Margo, the fated mate, puts up a fight against Dax Dupri. Not just once either, she's not just going to be told what to do, get roped in because he says so. Margo is her own independent woman and will be damned if a man is going to tell her otherwise. She's curious though about what is happening and it's the fated part on her end that roped her in. Will she survive the curse and fall in love? Can Dax make Margo fall in love with him or will the curse be his undoing before he may go to jail? You'll have to listen / read to find out.

As always, I love the narrator.
