Another classic
Cornwell does not put a foot wrong. Yes, there's slight confusion from time to time regarding Sharpes rank, being a private in Tiger but later referred to as a sergeant and him being a full major here but though read in chronological order, they weren't written that way.
This is another thrilling addition to the series and as long as they can be written, people will be reading them. Superb. As always.

Brilliant narration.
Richard Sharpe is a wonderful hero. I love the vivid narration. You can smell the gun smoke.

As expected Sharpe exploits
Written exceptionally as always, I’m loving that there continues to be more stories of one of my favourite characters. The real story following Daddy Hill’s success and twisting it slightly with our favourite rifleman world perfectly. I’m such a fan of Cornwell, it’s hard to criticise, but please make the next story longer. ‘Ye bast’red”.

Occasionally, it’s nice to read a book that gives you everything you want from a favourite character
if you are a fan of Richard Sharpe and his men and the world Bernard Cornwall has brought back to life around him this book is a bit like settling down into a warm Bath. Unapologetically a salute to his own creation. Cornwall has created in these books an authors Nirvana of a fiction inside real history that his readers can dip in and out of Leisure . if you’ve never ventured into Richard Sharp’s world, I recommend you read all these books in the order they were written not in chronological order, the characters actions make more sense which in itself is quite an achievement. I hope this is not sharpes last outing.

Sharps return
Brilliant to have Sharp back again, I've missed him. Great story brilliantly narrated by Rupert Farley who creates the atmosphere and brings Sharp to life

Northern Sharpe?
Always had a problem with the accents on audible. In the books Sharpe is from the rookeries of London but the accent is always South Yorkshire - as per Sean Bean. Annoying. Also he is referred as Captain a couple of times but is actually a Major according to the text. Finally is Harper really from Donegal? The accent sounds more north east Ireland to me. I am available as proof reader/listener and at a reasonable rate too!

Great additional shorter length story- a few issues
I did very much enjoy the story and think that the shorter scope and scale of the book worked well as a small story to add to the series.
I did find that as well as some odd discrepancies in the story such as sharpes ever changing rank however my main irritant with this addition was the voice acting. Sharpe’s voice seemed tired and slower than in other books. Accents seem to change sentence to sentence for the same character. Hogan for example goes from Irish accent to sharing the same accent as the English officers. Not terrible but just a slight irritant.
All in all another great book that can be commended!

Slow start but bear with it
Was quite nervous after some of the negative reviews here. Thought the worst after the first chapter but it soon returns to normal Sharpe form.
Maybe the reviews planted the seed of doubt but they were soon removed
