Summary

One small mistake. One deadly consequence.

Elodie Fray wants to be more like her perfect sister, Ada, the one her parents are actually proud of. When she decided to quit her job and pursue her dream of becoming an author, she thought it would be her time to shine, but a year on nothing has happened. And she's getting desperate.

When Elodie makes one small mistake on a drunken night with a friend, things quickly spiral and suddenly everyone believes she has a book deal. Unable to find a way back from her little lie, her perfect dream becomes a perfect nightmare - and desperate times call for desperate measures.

Meanwhile, everything is not as it seems in Ada Archer's perfect life. When her sister suddenly disappears, she questions everything - from her marriage, to the man who's been charged with Elodie's abduction. The papers say it's him, but the more she digs into her sister's life, the less convinced she is. Ada will do anything to discover the truth, even if it kills her.

No one knows what happened to Elodie Fray, and now her only chance of survival is her sister.

Perfect for fans of B A Paris, Louise Candlish and Erin Kelly.

Outstanding

Totally captivated by this story, a story of sibling rivalry and ultimately, sibling love. A story full of twist and challenges, the characters are very relatable and it's written from the heart.
I was absolutely gripped with heart racing chapters that kept me in suspense and wanting. I'm so looking forward to more from Dandy Smith. The narrators were perfectly chosen and they suit the book so well. 5 star all around.

Great story, excellent narration

Really enjoyed this! I loved how the story explored sibling relationships and how traumatic events can bring people together as well as pull them apart. The narration was superb, Georgia and Daphne did a first class job.

Excellent writer

Vivid characterisation. I found the characters and relationships very believable- even the bad ones. Lovely fresh writing. Personally felt the violent climax went on too long but a lot of people like the action in thrillers. I enjoyed the subtlety more.

Kept me listening

A very good listen, kept me engaged and hoping the ending wouldn’t be too cliched. It was a but I still enjoyed the characters and would recommend this book.

Superb

A third of the way through, I thought there was a gaping hole in the story and the would be no recovery. This author was clever and each time I thought there was going to be predictability she spun in wait another twist or angle. It was had to stop listening!

OMG!

I don’t say OMG! But OMG, (you can see I’m a wordsmith!). When I started this book I must admit I struggled, I don’t want sounds in my audiobook, not to brag about intellect, but I know what a cough sounds like.

I’m a life long reader, books are my most treasured possessions but unfortunately I’m unable to enjoy them anymore and to me, although I am so appreciative of them now, audiobooks, for me will always be inferior to the pleasure of holding and reading an actual book.

The reason I’m writing all of this is to illustrate that after the 1200+ I’ve listened to in the past 5 years, and being unable to say anything about the book for fear of spoilers, (which people should never do! Please!), I’ve listened to some dire book and some amazing books, this was amazing. Definitely, in my top 10 ever.

The writing, the actual story and the narration are seamlessly excellent, thank you.

We all have different tastes and I love that, feel free to feel differently about the book.
