Summary

Appearances can be deceiving...

After a whirlwind romance and three years of marriage, I’d tried to be a good wife.

But Tom, my husband, is always watching, controlling my every move. He chooses my clothes, my hairstyle, even instructing what and how much I’m allowed to eat – just ten measly mouthfuls.

I’ve become isolated from those I love, forbidden to work and stuck at home to fulfil his every whim.

My identity along with my life is long gone.

I am slowly suffocating but I know Tom will never, ever let me leave alive.

A chance encounter with Savannah changes everything. Tom couldn’t tear his eyes away from her. Could she be my saviour?

Could my husband’s desire for another woman be the answer to my prayers, to my freedom?

Bestseller Gemma Rogers is back with another gripping, page-turning thriller. Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Shari Lapena and Lisa Jewell.

Hard going

I found the narration infuriating. The book would’ve been read in half the time if the narrator spoke at a regular speed. I found the story farcical and the ending was disappointing and predictable. There were loose ends left, well, loose. It’s not awful but definitely not great.

Suspense

Gemma is a new author to me,but will certainly be listening to more of her titles. Whilst this is a work of fiction some elements will certainly ring true to any woman stuck in a controlling relationship. Suspenseful is an understatement . Fantastic

Nope

Quite poor plot line and one dimensional characters. Unrealistic and dreadful narration. Won’t follow this author. Waste of a credit

Dislike narrator’s style. Grrr.

I like Gemma Rogers books but I really can’t stand this narrator. She ruins a book for me. Why can’t she just read in a normal voice instead of her affections. Up and down taking a breath at an odd time. It annoys me so much i barely hear the story. I’m sure it was good. Her books are always good.

Awful story

Really disliked this book, weak story and the narration and voices were so irritating, gave up with two hours left, no idea what actually happened in the dull story.
