Summary
Wouldn't you love to know what your dog was thinking?
The truth is that your dog is communicating with you all the time, but unless you know the signs, you aren't picking up on what your dog wants you to know. Louise Glazebrook is a dog behaviourist, trainer and television presenter who specialises in teaching people how to understand and connect with their dogs.
In The Book Your Dog Wishes You Would Read, Louise tackles everything from bringing the right dog home, understanding body language and breed behaviour, responding to common behavioural issues, to the toys and games that you and your dog will both love.
Most dog trainers focus on the dog, but Louise focuses on you, the owner, giving you the skills and confidence to interpret your dog's needs and behaviour and build a better, happier relationship for life.

Best book you could read about dogs! thank you!!
loved it! Louise was easy to listen to, she kept me engrossed and I learned so much! We have a 6month old Dalmatian as well as an older Lab so it was so helpful towards working with both. Definitely recommend to anyone

Outstanding knowledge
This book is a real gem. Outstanding knowledge backed by real world experience and practice. Not theoretical but realistic and grounded advice. I am studying advanced dog behavioural science and this book enhanced my own understanding immensely. I recommend it to my clients each and every day.

Excellent
Even though I’ve had dogs in my life for all of my 78 years, by listening to this book I am encouraged by what I’ve done right, but also seeing where I went wrong at times.
I thoroughly recommend it for those who want a dog and present dog owners.
I can now understand my present little dog more, and other dogs too.
Most of all I can now see why and how I’ve managed to own a most delightful and loving little 2 year old dog. Who is well behaved and admired by so many. I had instinctively done a lot of what Louise recommends with this little bundle who I had at the age of 8 weeks, during the second COVD lockdown.
I will be recommending this book to any dog lovers that I get into conversation with in future.

Listen Before You Get a Puppy
This book will prepare you in ways that you never realised you needed preparing for. Listened to this book before we got our rescue and it was invaluable. Also, helped us be better for our existing dog.

A must listen for any dog owner
This is a rare non fiction listen for me and, as, what I hope I am, a responsible dog owner, this book is a must read/listen. I have learned so much from this book, and already seeing my GSP in a new light. She is sniffing at me in hope as I write this…

Amazing!
Incredible book, covers new puppies, new adopted dogs, current dogs, different breeds and their difficulties, daily walks, body language, myths. Everything. And everything she says is absolutely bang on!
It's unfortunate negative reviews of this book barely gave it a chance. It's so wholesome and is for those who are really passionate about dogs and really want to communicate in the best way with their companion.
I also love that Louise both wrote and read this book, so authentic. Thank you for making this book and doing the work that you do.

Useful guide if you are yet to choose a dog.
As I already own three dogs, I found a good chunk of this book not especially useful or relevant to me.
Skip to chapter 9 to get beyond the advice for choosing a puppy. There are some useful tips and good insight shared for how dogs behave and how owners might inadvertently create bad habits.
I wasn’t overwhelmed by new information and there were only a handful of suggestions made that I can take on board. I was hoping for more advice for how to manage certain aspects of owning a dog. There is that to be found, but this book focuses more on understanding dogs rather than advising how to train or manage.
Overall, a useful text, especially if you are considering owning a dog for the first time. Some advice can be a little haughty, but it all comes from a good place.
