Eloquent, engrossing and fabulous – Stardust, written by award-winning English author and screenwriter, Neil Gaiman, is a modern fiction unabridged audiobook with hints of a contemporary fairytale, perfectly narrated by Gaiman himself. Now also a major Paramount Pictures film with a star-studded cast. This enchanting story is set at the very blossoming of the great Victorian era and follows the tale of one young man and his impossible quest to capture a shooting star in order to have the heart and the hand of his one true love. Critic reviews

"Gaiman's silver-tongued narration vividly brings this production to life. Like the bards of old, Gaiman is equally proficient at telling tales as he is at writing them, and his pleasant British accent feels like a perfect match to the material." (Publishers Weekly)

"A fairy tale for everyone from 'one of the best fabulists of our age." (Financial Times)

"Beyond all the borders that divide us, there is a place of infinite possibilities and pure magic. I think of Neil Gaiman as a writer who wears the key to that land around his neck - the key to Storyland." (Elif Shafak)

Great book with a weak ending

This is the first Gaiman book I have listened to. I found the beginning as bit slow, but it quickly picked up pace and I found myself wanting to listen to it as often as I could. It seemed to come to an abrupt and unsatisfactory end though, as if the author was a bit fed up with it and just wanted to wrap everything up.
The ending did not do justice to the rest of the book. It was worth listening to though. I am about to start listening to 'fragile things' so we'll see how I do with that!

A fairy tale for adults

A fantastic story by the fantastic Neil Gaiman, I watched the film when I was younger and loved it, however this was my first time listening to the actual story and its even better. Got me through a tough day of work too

Enchanting

Brilliant story wonderfully told. I had watched the film first and was delighted to discover this audiobook. Also a really insightful question and answer session at the end. Will be listening to more from this author!

Will definitely be listening again...

There is something so graceful about Neil Gaiman’s story telling. To say he takes you away to another world seems superfluous, but the point is that he does, and you are transported into it. A beautiful elegant story, with wonderful images. Will definitely return and listen to it again, both to savour all the detail and when I next feel like spending time in another world.

Brilliant.

I have enjoyed listening to every word of Stardust. It swept me into the world of magick and faerie. I was so happy to return there for the ending.
Neil Gaiman is a wonderful story teller, as well as writer.
Certainly recommend Stardust to anyone, but they must first shed their feet of clay to travel to the other worlds with it.

A good take well read

What made the experience of listening to Stardust the most enjoyable?

Gaiman is rare in that he is a good narrator of his own work

What did you like best about this story?

As a Terry Pratchett fan I was keen to experience his friend's work. I was not disappointed.

Any additional comments?

My only criticism is that the heroes journey is just a bit too easy. He seems to glide through difficulties without much effort at times.
