Fascinating
A wonderful look into Dahl's background was sad when it finished I just want to know more about his marvellous life. When did he start writing and why.

Tears of happiness
This book is so adventurous, sad and happy at the same time. I was so blown away by the stories. My favourite part was when he got home. The adventures made me feel that I wished to be with him. This is my favourite book EVER!!

Masterful writing.
THIS is how to write an autobiography! Such clarity, recall and experiences make for a vivid picture of a life lived in wartime ......just a snippet of a life which would later prove to be equally exceptional. Dan Stevens narration, as always, is just perfect.

A delightful listen
This short autobiographical account describes the chapter of Roald Dahl’s early adult life when he travels to Kenya to work for Shell and then volunteers to train and fly as a pilot to support England’s effort in the Second World War. It combines wry humour with pathos in the way only Roald Dahl can and is excellently narrated by Dan Stevens.
