About the Performer
Richard Armitage is known to movie audiences around the world as "Thorin Oakenshield" in the trilogy of films based on The Hobbit. Born in Leicester, England, and trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Armitage has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and created memorable roles on Robin Hood, North & South, and other British TV series.

Beautiful words given life in the most wonderful way.
I would recommend this book to anybody wanting to hear some of love’s greatest poems given life and told in the most beautiful way.
I picked it mostly because I am studying Shakespeare, Tennyson and the Brownings at the moment and wanted to hear the poems out loud. Richard reads them very well and with great attention too.
5 stars all the way!

Lovely poems but wish there were more
I had not heard some of these poems since my 'A Level English' days. Brought back good memories, especially the passage from Corrinthians which was read at our wedding . The narration by Richard Armitage is as always flawless,such clear diction and a voice like dark rich chocolate,I have listened to lots of his work and his characterisation is superb.

What did you like most about FREE: Classic Love Poems?
A quick romantic fix and the line "(love) It doesn't keep track of wrongs"
What does Richard Armitage bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
He has a soothing calming voice that is easy to listen to, really made it a 5 star listing

Perfect voice for love poems
Although I love poetry and have many books it comes to life when narrated as well as this. So pleased my very favourite poem Annabel Lee was included. Would love Mr Armitage to narrate more from Edgar Allan Poe. First class.

A beautiful flow of expression of love.
Poems from the following poets and read by Richard Armitage.
My favourite 2 from this collection are:
Elizabeth Barrett Browning ~ How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
Just has the beautiful flow of expression of love.
Alfred, Lord Tennyson ~ COME into the garden, Maud,
For the black bat, Night, has flown,
I’m a sucker for Tennyson since the day I read Agatha Christies ‘The Mirror Crack’d from Side to Side” which has the following quote in the novel from the poem ‘The Lady of Shalott’,
“Out flew the web and floated wide;
The mirror crack’d from side to side;
‘The curse is come upon me,’ cried
The Lady of Shalott.”
I just find the imagery of his words, creates the pictures he is trying to convey into my mind.
All the poems are beautifully recited by the actor Richard Armitage.
