Summary

The electrifying stand-alone thriller from the author of The Last Thing to Burn and First Born.

My phone has no reception, something we've been told to expect from time to time out here, and my stomach feels uneasy. Maybe it's the motion of the waves or maybe it's the fact that Pete didn't leave a note or a text. He usually leaves a note with a heart.

I pull on jeans and a jumper and scrunch my hair on top of my head and take my key card and step out into the corridor.

Thirty seconds later it hits me.

All the other cabin doors are wedged open.

Every single one is unoccupied and unlocked.

My heart starts beating harder. I break out into a run. At the end of the long corridor I take a lift down to the Ocean Lobby.

There's nobody here.

My mouth is dry.

It's like I'm trapped on a runaway train.

No, this is worse.

The RMS Atlantica is steaming out into the ocean and I am the only person on board.

This was supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime for Cas. Now she just needs to survive.

With the drama of The Woman in Cabin 10 and the tension of And Then There Were None, The Last Passenger is a psychological thriller set aboard a cruise ship about a woman whose seemingly ordinary life is suddenly thrown dramatically off course. Will Dean is the master of intense suspense and this novel is full of his trademark twists and turns.

Great story but the ending was poor.

I found myself gripped from the start and struggled to work out what was going on. Being drip fed the plot helped keep the mystery. Once it was revealed what was truly going on only added to terror. I could have believed it all ...until the end but I'm afraid the closing text had me saying "REALLY 😩?!!" Too far fetched and ridiculous. But worth a listen as that is just my opinion, and it's well narrated.

Gripping!

Keeps you guessing, although you ‘feel’ like you know what is going on, but so you really 😉

The tension all the way through.

Loved the book from beginning to end usual tense and well written, gripping story I’ve come to expect from Will Dean. The narrator was excellent too .Highly recommend

Another Great TikTok Find!

I bought this book after following Marc Sebastian on The Ultimate World Cruise doing a book club with this book on TikTok. I really enjoyed the story and it kept me guessing right until the end, then even after that... I'll never cruise again without thinking about this book.

It felt like a mash up of US Big Brother / Hunger Games and I'm here for that!!!

Different read, kept me hooked

Really easy book to get into, the narrator was great and I easily found myself aboard the ship. The ending kinda ruined it for me but not enough not to recommend it. Will def check out more by this author. If you want an easy to listen to slightly different story this is it.

Gripping

So, I really enjoyed it. It was interesting guessing all what was happening and such, however the ending, those last few sentences really frustrated me. I feel like it let the book down, unfortunately. I’m still glad I listened to it, as it really has kept my mind occupied! Other than the end I loved it a loooot.

What an amazing book- give it a go!

I hated the first 3 chapters. The inner thoughts of the protagonist I thought were dreadful- that is, not what anyone would think in those circumstances. I decided if it carried on the same I’d abandon it. But something made me carry on. The characters themselves were odd, in that I couldn’t believe in them but then again I did! It’s left me full of contradictory feelings! The rather strange narration which some reviewers have criticised, I came to think was very good. Of course the story is far fetched but if we go back 15 years who would have believed that some of the reality shows that are on now would ever be screened? I honestly didn’t know how it would end. Such a simple explanation really but I was so caught up in the characters’ emotions that I didn’t imagine it would be that straightforward. (I have ignored the very end on the plane because that was just crazy!). For some reason all the way through I was wondering why I was liking this book but I did, it was totally gripping the further in I got. It’s a book you need to give a go and you may not like it but you may find you cannot stop listening!

Great concept and entertaining

The narrator was simply superb for this story and really brought it to life.

Hard to talk about this story without spoilers. My only negative feedback is I preferred it to be darker at the end. Felt the ending was too rushed and too obvious.

I really didn’t mind that the story was far fetched as it’s great if authors push boundaries and the art of the possible to create new and innovative stories.

I definitely recommend as its unique story and great fun.
