Summary
The instant New York Times best seller from the author of Sometimes I Lie.
Ten years of marriage.
Ten years of secrets.
An anniversary they’ll never forget.
Adam and Amelia are spending the weekend in the Scottish Highlands. The remote location is perfect for what they have planned.
But when their romantic trip takes a dark turn, they both start to wonder - can they trust the one they’re with?
Because every couple tells little white lies. Only for Adam and Amelia, the truth is far more dangerous.
Critic reviews
"Chilling and clever, with a twist so sharp you’ll get whiplash. Rock Paper Scissors is the kind of blistering one-sit read that Alice Feeney is just so incredibly good at." (Chris Whitaker, author of We Begin at the End)
"Deliciously dark.... An exquisitely constructed, hugely entertaining thriller.... I loved it." (Catherine Ryan Howard, author of The Nothing Man)
"A perfectly-plotted thriller that hooked me from the opening scene.... A scissor-sharp portrayal of a marriage on the rocks. Atmospheric, entertaining and clever." (Philippa East, author of Safe and Sound)
"Not just fiendish but positively Feeneyish - dark, ingenious and very clever." (Cara Hunter, author of Close to Home)
"A cleverly crafted novel with a grand twist." (Stella magazine)

Clever
Really enjoyed the 'unfolding' of this story, cleverly done.
Had no problem at all with the narration and usually that is my 'bugbear'

Awful female narrator. Average story.
The female narrator spoils this. She is by turns conspiratorial and astonished throughout the whole book. Puts me right off. I cringe when she reads.
The story is ok. Bit daft.

Far-fetched but Intriguing
This story lapses into melodrama and is littered with cliches. Nevertheless, it is cleverly written with some pleasing twists, and it held my attention throughout. Unlike some reviewers, I had no problem with either of the narrators.

A chillingly brilliant book!
Feeney has done it again! Written a fantastic book and the audiobook was really enjoyable. Particularly the last 2 hours as the plot twists are revealed and the cleverness of her writing is exposed.

Enjoyable story, keeps moving.
I really enjoyed the story, slightly dark and it kept on moving. The male narrator was a pleasure to listen too but I had to speed up the female voice.
Overall very good.

Over complicated plot twists & over dramatic performers!
A real let down after some of her other books!
I was glad when it was over

another good read by Alice Feeney
This is the third book I've read by Alice Feeney. I enjoyed all of them . Great storyline and characters. Surprise for the reader at the end.

Ruined by female narrator
The story was ok, a bit too long and repetitive in my opinion but with some good elements and twists. The ending was good but it took too long to get there in my opinion.
However, I couldn’t listen to the female narrator. I was close to turning it off a few times. She overacted, the breathing when she was needing an inhaler was awful and her “Scottish accent” when making Patty’s character sounded more northern Irish than Scottish.

So so
Hmmm this was an ok read I listened on holiday on the beach and on the plane. It was atmospheric and had a supernatural feel. I got a bit bored with her anniversary letters no scratch that found them a bit repetitive 😜

Thrilling and Creepy With A Killer Twist
🧡 A married couple spending the weekend in a remote house in the Scottish Highlands. If you think it sounds like the start of a horror film, you’re not far off. This is equal parts horror and thriller.
💚 There is a brilliant balance of a solid backstory of Adam and Amelia’s marriage on one hand and the sheer sinister creepiness of their current predicament. How did they get to that point? What changed? And what was rotten all along? Wanting answers to these questions drove me on.
💛 The twist is a bonus cherry on top of it all. It is so clever, so unexpected. And yet it hangs well with the rest of the story.
💜 I loved my first Alice Feeny listen, Sometimes I Lie and this was every bit as phenomenal. I’ve added His & Hers to my TBR.

SOUNDBITE
🎧 Stephanie Racine and Richard Armitage are simply brilliant narrators. Expressive and authentic to my ears. Many reviewers were fairly critical of Racine’s performance. So I went back to check if I had missed something. I remain at a loss. Best thing to do is listen to the sample before buying. But if you've listened to other Alice Feeney books, you'll be familiar with Racine's work.
🎧 This is a full on listen that requires close attention. Lots of moving parts, characters and plot points you could miss if you drift off.
