Summary
A practical guide to taking control of your mental health for today, tomorrow and the days after, from the Sunday Times best-selling author and beloved entertainer.
‘There’s a moment at the end of every day, where the world falls away and you are left alone with your thoughts. A reckoning, when the things you have been pushing to the background, come forward and demand your attention.’
Written by Daniel Howell, in conjunction with a qualified psychologist, in an entertaining and personal way from the perspective of someone who has been through it all - this no-nonsense book gives you the tools to understand your mind so you can be in control and really live. Split into three chapters for each stage of the journey:
- This Night - how to get through your toughest moments and be prepared to face anything.
- Tomorrow - small steps to change your thoughts and actions with a big impact on your life.
- The Days After - help to look after yourself in the long term and not just survive, but thrive.
You will laugh and learn - but most of all, this book will assure you that even in your darkest times, there is always hope.
You will get through this night.

"I think it’s great.... It’s simple, straightforward narrative and then practical techniques." (Paul McKenna)

If you are feeling down, listen to this book
I enjoyed every part of this audiobook, and made my dishes a little bit easier. There is tons of exercises that I learned or remembered, that honestly works for me. Best part is that this is not like any wellness book, bc it's scientific, and it feels like you are having a relatable conversation with Daniel Howell, the author and voice of this audiobook. So do your self a favor, even your struggles are tiny, and listen to this book

Comforting and easy to listen to
this book is a great balance of useful advice, inappropriate jokes and a handful of perfect callouts of things we all do which are terrible for our mental health and how we can improve our mental health. i highly recommend listening to it (apart from the asmr, sorry dan)

thank you
As someone who is normally pretty resistant to self help media, I can say that I needed this. Genuinely helpful, empathetic but not condescending, with humour scattered throughout. I appreciated how the science behind the method was explained with just enough depth, but not too much as to make it dry. The format was also really useful. This helped me a lot. Thank you :)

A good mix of mental health tips
Firstly, I am a fan of Daniel, and this might be a biased review, but I did find a lot of the tips and strategies in this book helpful, and there's enough personal stories to keep it lighter than some other self-help books

Informative, helpful, and accessible advice!!
I've watched Dan's videos for years and really loved how honestly and openly he talked about mental health - it really normalized it for me. This book has tons of great advice - I love how it's split into 3 sections so you can listen to whichever part you need depending on your current mental health. It gave me a lot of good advice and tips for how to improve & maintain good mental health and it was very thought provoking. Definitely learned a lot about myself & will take away many lessons from this book! :)

Really lovely yet realistic mental health book
Aimed at a younger listener but I think it would also be handy for a parent of a teenager too, containing helpful activities it’s definitely a self help book for your everyday person i.e. it’s not telling you to do some yoga and live laugh love affirmations to magically change your life. The asmr chapter was...unexpected

Amazing but please update with chapter titles!!
The chapters of the audiobook need titles not numbers, especially as it's a self-help book designed to be picked up both in the moment of turmoil and later reflectively. This inaccessibility undermines the premise of the book as it's not intended to be read chronically making the numbers redundant. Having to click on all the chapters blindly to find the parts you need isn't pleasant. I fear some of the books usefulness will be lost in audio format!
