Summary

Pauline Quirke was a skinny child, a slim teenager, a curvy woman, then - according to her bathroom scales (curse them) - just plain fat. Yes, the "F" word. Tipping the scales at nearly 20 stone, with creaking knees and a dodgy ankle to boot, at the beginning of 2011 Pauline had reached a crisis point. Something had to change, and fast.

It was never going to be an easy ride, but with her trademark warmth and sense of humour, Pauline recounts the highs and lows of the roller-coaster year in which she whips herself, and her life, into shape - with a fair few tales from her celebrated forty-year acting career thrown into the bargain. She reveals all: from the strain of working long hours away from home on one of Britain's most popular soaps to renewing her wedding vows and reuniting with her Birds of a Feather co-stars; from battling the bulge and facing the naysayers to rediscovering the joys of airline travel…without a seatbelt extension.

Honest and revealing, Where Have I Gone? is brimming with brilliantly funny anecdotes and truly moving moments. So put your feet up and join Pauline as she embarks on the most incredible year of her life.

An inspiration and a wonderful human being

I have always enjoyed watching Pauline over the years. This book was a true insight to her strength and courage and love of her family and friends. I would love to think we all have a friend like Pauline.

Oops - Its about a diet

I have been a fan of Paulines as we are a similar age and I watched her grow up on TV really. A big fan, so I had no hesitation on buying Where have I gone as the title suggested it was about her the person and not about weight she had lost. Possibly my own fault for not needing to listen to the sample as I knew the voice already and the title led me to believe it was about her.
Its a lovely, open and honest account of her experience on a partlcular diet plan (I won't plug it here )

Enjoyable and Inspirational!

Lighter Life, Weight Watchers or Slimming World ... it really doesn't matter if you're on one of these programmes or not, I would still recommend this book if you're a Pauline Quirke fan!

Pauline was definitely the perfect person to narrate her own book, because she really sets the scene in all those

'opps silly me' moments which I found myself laughing at throughout the book!

And then there's the moments, if your a larger lady like Pauline was (or me) you'll totally get those tough times while she was losing her weight!

But a really good book for anyone!!

Nothing more than an ad for Lighterlife

Sadly couldn't even finish it. Love Pauline Quirke, but didn't find it funny or uplifting. Just seemed like a long drawn out story about LL. After 3 hours of listening, gave up.
