Summary
It's Maya and Jamie's anniversary, and she waits with excitement for him to return home for a celebratory dinner. There's a knock at the door. It's the police. Jamie has been found hanging in a local wood. His death is ruled a suicide, but Maya doesn't believe Jamie would take his own life. Something isn't right. Someone has broken into her house. Someone is watching her. And someone has gone to great lengths to cover up what Jamie was doing before he died.
Maya's grief turns to suspicion, and as she begins to investigate the weeks leading up to Jamie's death, her trail leads her to a place known as "The Big House" and the horrific secrets within. Good story annoying female narration- contains graphic child abuse
Devastating story that makes you want to get to the end to know the outcome. Unfortunately let down by very annoying female narration. The kind of voice that grates on you. Had to fast forward many sections on that basis.

Horrifying disturbing and twisty
I’ve been so used to the last few of these freebies on Audibles plus being terrible that it was a real nice surprise to find that this one was far from that.
I normally use these to help me sleep but this one was just too horrifying ! Nicely narrated, great story line and lots of realism to it. The characters were believable including her change from happy go lucky to driven.
I hope she’s written more !

Get your tissues.
horroendous, stunning, moving. its graphic but so poignant. it's like an ode to all child abuse victims, who felt like they didn't have a voice. Beautifully done with a satisfying ending. I need to take a moment to process this book.

This was a well written story even if the content was hard to listen to.

So cruel
This was well written but oh such a repellent subject I almost stopped listening but my habit is to always see a book through to the end. Enjoyable it was not. Distressing it was.

Sad but fabulous book!
