Editor reviews

Holly Summers is a child welfare officer in Portland, Oregon, who moonlights for the local police department using her skills as a lip-reader (she also happens to be deaf). But while Holly is helping the police investigate a rash of disappearances, an angry father from one of her cases puts a curse on her that threatens the one thing she loves most: her daughter. Performer Suzy James' tones are honeyed and smooth here, and she does an excellent job creating separate voices for each character. Fans of supernatural and psychological thrillers are likely to enjoy the ride.

Dark

Extremely dark.

I've loved reading Graham Masterton for most of my adult life, I know what to expect. This one shocked me.

Perhaps because it is cloaked in "normal" themes. By which I mean police procedural drama sort of normal. Storylines that we see on TV. It lulls you into a false sense of security.

Dark.

What a Brilliant Story & Wow What an Ending!!!

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It’s an example of Graham Masterton at his best.

The story is very clever and develops as the audiobook goes on.

The narrator was very good she was able to put life into every character.

As for the ending I can only say I was not expecting it at all. It was completely unexpected. It was a “wow, I wasn’t expecting that” moment for me.

I won’t say anything else about it, you’ll just have to listen yourself.

I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Really enjoyed this.

Some may find the some of subject matter upsetting, because it is. But I have to say it was a good listen and didn't go where I expected. If I had read the book I probably would have. If you give this your undivided attention or have a heads up you might. But I just have books on in the background as I am doing other stuff, and it's the first one for a long time I haven't got where it's all going till it got there. Which I find most refreshing.
