The incredible conclusion to the record-breaking triple Hugo award-winning trilogy that began with the The Fifth Season.

The Moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women.

Essun has inherited the phenomenal power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter Nassun and forge a world in which every outcast child can grow up safe.

For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world, and accepted what her mother will not admit: that sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

A fresh breeze

An amazing book about grand designs and an epic story, but without losing touch of the small details that matter and make a story believable.

Great Series!

Listened to nine hours of this book over two days. Fascinated about how it was going to end! Really enjoyed the series! Found this book slightly slower than the first two.

Great story. Brilliant performance.

A refreshing change to find a sci-fi/fantasy story with a female author, lead and narrator. Thoroughly enjoyed all three books on the series.

so good I read it twice!

I listened to the whole series twice, back to back, which is unusual for me. Masterful story telling, both in the writing and in the audio narration (barring the occasional accent slip for one of the characters). I will be reading more of her work for sure.

Rusting good

The final instalment of the trilogy. Exciting climatic ending. The audiobook is a little more difficult to follow than the printed book, as there are several points of view. Although Robin Miles does her usual amazing job, it sometimes takes a moment to determine which group is portrayed. You'll soon get the hang of it though, as the saga moves inexorably to its conclusion. Excellent trilogy, which I have on kindle and audio. So enjoyed listening to it, and I do recommend it.

A Great Conclusion to the Trilogy

Thoroughly enjoyed the book. N.K. Jemisin builds a convincing dystopian and apocalyptic world that, while also being an allegory of the injustice and oppression of our own, is a living breathing place filled with a legacy of magic and strange technology. The Narrator is perfectly suited to the work and reflects the personality of each character excellently.

Subtle and original

While I didn't fall in love with this series as much as others must have (to warrant 3 Hugo Awards!) there is something magical about them. They have real heart, are beautifully written, create an immersive and original story world, and feel original.
