Summary

Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside.

The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organisation that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths.

In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner Robin Ellacott decides to infiltrate the cult and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito amongst them. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her...

Unstoppable, The Running Grave moves Strike and Robin's story forward in the epic, unforgettable seventh instalment of the series.

Long but so worth it

Loved this, so glad everything explained at end as easy to forget bits. Cannot wait for next instalment. Narration by Robert Glenister was perfect as normal can’t be an easy job.

Phenomenal!

I’ve listened to it twice now, and I’m just blown away by how good this book is. This series just gets better and better! I’m not sure how I’ll cope whilst waiting for the next. Just listen to it already 😅 As always - best narrator ever!

loved it

I was looking forward to the next installment and it did not disappoint. When I saw how long it was I wondered if perhaps it needed more rigorous editing, but having listened to it, it does not. The ending was excellent.

Far FAR Too long

I waited with bated breath for this novel, as I have enjoyed 90% of the authors other writings but I'm sorry to say, I skip read most of the middle 50 (yes I did say 50!) chapters. A harrowing story didn't help, and the very vivid descriptions, repeated many times, of the deaths/torture/ abuses were just too much. I needed to finish it, but it is not a book I will be returning to, unlike one or two of his/her other books. Sorry, again, but this is not my kind of good read/listen!!

Too long

Nearly gave up at the 8 hour mark but kept going. The story started for real, for me, with 14 hours to go. Robert Glenister was brilliant as usual. Not sure about a next Strike if it’s this long and so padded with repetition.

Utterly captivating

Another absolute triumph! Deeply disquieting in its plausibility, thoroughly engaging, thought-provoking, tense and with exactly the right balance of plot to character, The Running Grave confirms Galbraith/Rowling’s status as one of - if not the - greatest living writers. We’re so lucky to have her. Fabulous narration from Robert Glenister, too!

Fantastic

Another excellent book by Rowling.
I’m never disappointed by her stories just sorry it’s finished and waiting for the next instalment of the Strike and Robin saga.
