Summary

For too long had the Vth Legion ranged out beyond the sight of the wider Imperium, remaining ignorant of the Warmaster's rebellion and the war that inevitably followed.

Only once their primarch, Jaghatai Khan, had satisfied himself that the path before them was just and true did the White Scars choose a side, taking the fight to the traitors on every front. But, four years later, the Legion's unfettered spirit has been broken by relentless attritional warfare against the Death Guard and the Emperor's Children - the Khan's Stormseers must find a clear route to Terra if they are to take part in the final, apocalyptic battle.

FOR THE KHAGAN!!!

Great! like all the books of the white scars, well worth a listen/read! easily one of the most underrated legions, but that is their strength after all, looking forward to more of the Khan and the Scars.

watch your ears

The story was fine, interestingly different with some interesting characters and combat scenes, but although this narration is better than the last Scars book (the accents are not so blatantly stereotypical) but any time a demon or the Khan speaks it is like having someone shouting in your ear, especially with headphones.

unmissable entry in the series

wow I enjoyed listening to this so much.
There are some vague spoilers below!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is one of the first horus heresy books that hasn't left me feeling depressed in a long time
and we are treated to an awesome example of how a primarch fares against a greater daemon.
Epic fleet battles and astartes warfare. Dont skip this one.

An amazing book with a lot of pay offs

An amazing book that finishes what the "White Scars" book started. So if you have read that one, then I can't recommend this one enough.

For the Khagan!!!!!!

Another classic. I knew nothing about the scars when I started the heresy, now they are my favorite legion.

Bit of a sleeper hit!

much better than I expected, well written and well performed. A little slow in places but generally not for long and appropriate when it is. The final third is a real treat and has some heroic and tragic conclusions for very strong, well developed characters.

Definitely worth a listen

Managed to finish in under 2 days, difficult to put down! Voice acting for the White Scars was a bit difficult to differentiate between characters and also reminded me too much of the narrators take on Kurze in Angels of Caliban at times. Lots of callbacks/ links to Master of Mankind and Prospero Burns so I would read these first.

One of the best

The Path of Heaven is one of the very best Horus Heresy books. It grips you from the start and keeps up the pace and the tension in a way many of the other books fail. I think it’s important that the other Scars novels are read first, to understand the significance of some of the story lines, but it’s a fitting conclusion to many of those storylines. The performance is great too. Not over the top and at the same time the characters come to life. Also worth saying the “bad guys” are great too. Fantastic variety and complex motivation.
