Heartwarming
A beautiful story of love, soul connection, laying down roots and family. Really enjoyed this one, nice easy listen, very funny in places, quirky and upbeat. Brilliantly narrated. Five stars from me.

disappointing and very predictable
I've read every Sophie Kinsella book and maybe it's me getting older, but this one felt really flat. it's a predictable take on another middle class family 'drama' but I think overall it was the narrator that drove me potty. the text would state something about a character acting in a particular emotional way, but the voice acting was another emotion entirely.

Funny, happy, relaxing listen, like a wee holiday.
Fun fun fun and happy. Just enough to keep one hooked to the end. Cliché filled break from real life. Loved it.

Funny, charming and entertaining
Brilliant as usual.
Well read.
Very entertaining story.
A light hearted tale that also explores how your impressions of people might not be fully correct. There’s more to everyone than meets they eye!

Great story
A lovely story with a heartwarming theme. Very family orientated. It teaches you that things are not always what they seem. Once you’ve flown the proverbial nest you can’t assume that what you see on the surface of your family’s ways and actions are always true.
I loved Effie and the way she had developed throughout the story. She has learned some truths about herself whilst being in hidden attendance to the party which I feel helps her to develop as a person.
Moral of the story. There is always more going on under the surface than meets the eye.

Not her usual
a little repetitive and not a lot of content. easy listening but some voices sound the same and so lose track.

Slow start
I found this difficult to get into and nearly gave up. I found the characters quite annoying and the plot far fetched and predictable. However by half way through it got better and I managed to see it through. I think the main problem is that I didn’t like the narrator- I find her voice a bit whiney and too high pitched. Or maybe I have just grown out of Sophie Kinsella stories.
