Summary
On a warm spring evening, guests gather in a perfectly manicured garden to celebrate Maggie and Len’s twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Maggie leans against the apple tree, watching her fun-loving husband and darling children as her heart swells with pride. As the joyful party atmosphere disappears into the night, close by, the lifeless body of a young woman is pulled from a river.
Slipping upstairs to find the special gift for her adoring husband, Maggie stumbles across something else hidden amongst the dusty boxes of family keepsakes...
A printed pink silky scarf that doesn’t belong to her. She holds it up to her face, breaths in the sweet sickly perfume, it’s scent familiar, and tendrils of fear snake through her body. The scarf is stained with blood.
As Maggie re-joins the party and tries to ignore her churning stomach, she pours herself a glass of champagne to toast the man she’s enjoyed decades of happy marriage with. Then she catches a news flash of the local girl’s murder. She stares at the girl with the beautiful face, long ice-blonde hair and, draped loosely around her neck, Maggie recognises it instantly. She’s wearing the scarf.

I can't get enough of these books!
I love this series - gripping stories with great characters, a cunning twist, and perfect narration ... I can't wait for the next one!

Really surprised
I had this as a freebie and almost gave up
After chapter 1. Some of the middle aged characters felt a little stereotypical. However… wow so gladI stuck it out. By chapter 4 maybe I was totally hooked a really good story and entertaining. I will be reading more by this author.

Another "can't stop listening" book from Anna Lou Weatherley, made even more brilliant by the narration from James Lailey.

Excellent book, outstanding narration
I’m not sure I’d enjoy these stories half as much if it wasn’t for Lalley’s superb narration. The author crafts the stories expertly, with fabulous characters, and the narrator brings them to life. They are an excellent pairing, and I await the next one with bated breath!I loved this story, it’s complexities, and yes I’d gathered the twist in the tale before it was spelled out, but enjoyed it nevertheless. More please!

Surprise
I’ve listened to several books now by this author & narrator, all previous being fantastic, when I started this one I wasn’t warming to it and though I’d end up losing interest & not finishing it, I’d have it the benefit of the doubt for a little longer, must have bn a good five chapters in, glad I did, I warmed to it, the characters, well all except The G , but he is requirement to tye story, much like life, you will come across unsavoury individuals. Good storyline & as always great narration.
