Summary

When Lily McDermott walks in to find her husband of just three months in bed with a famous actress, life as she knows it is over. Lily thinks things can't get any worse when she sees photos of her husband and his new lover splashed across the glossy magazine pages, but when she loses her job, too, she is at her lowest ebb and turns to baking to soothe her soul.

Wounded and broken, she has to try to pick herself up again with the help of her best friend, Frankie. With her encouragement, Lily decides to turn her hobby into a business and sets up Baked with Love. However, whatever Lily does, it seems disaster soon ensues....

When a handsome stranger comes to her rescue, Lily isn't quite ready to turn her back on her marriage. Can she risk opening her heart again, or is she destined to allow Marc to overshadow her life forever?

easy comfortable listening

I love narrations by Aoife McMahon so although not the strongest of characters or story it was enjoyable.

The innocent main character's good nature

The old catholic view of marriage, that a failed marriage was shameful, and the idea that it was a major barrier to a future relationship.

Easy listen

Loved the narrator’s voice and accent - and the story was easy to listen to . If abit simple

I loved it!

Easy listening. Funny, heart breaking and love affirming. Just the way you want everything to work out for the slightly dippy, yet totally lovable heroine. You can’t help but be on her side.

Very twee

I listened to this to the end but not sure why as it made me feel slightly nauseated throughout. Very predictable and annoying characters

GREAT LISTEN 3🌟🌟🌟

I loved listening to this, it was so interesting and funny. I can't believe Lilly caught Marc cheating on her in their bed after only 12 weeks of marriage, then he has the cheek to ghost her before he said he was leaving her ~Lilly should of had the satisfaction of kicking him out! I wanted Lilly to be stronger than she was, as you should never beg a man to stay with you.

But I believe what goes around comes around plus what is meant for you won't go by you, I was shocked at Lilly's sisters Catholic views around how bad it looks for Lilly that she is separated in her marriage, I felt like she should have had a go at Marc for having the affair, not Lilly!

The Dad needed to stick up for Lilly more as his other daughter was bossy and rude.

I love that Lilly is now her own boss and is making cakes for a living. I felt her character got stronger throughout the book. I love that she has met someone knew

The narrator did her job very well 👍

Yes I would recommend this listen and it happened to be included FREE ~ so win-win!

I am now going to listen to the next book in the series to see if Lilly is still with her new boyfriend Sam😀

Frustrating

I really struggled with the characters in this book, Lilly and her sister. I found their relationship really frustrating. The storyline was weak and I did think of giving up less than half way through, however, decided to stick with it in the hope that something exciting was going to happen and there would be an exciting twist to the boring tale. Alas, there wasn't, it was just an incredibly frustrating and boring love story that never got off the ground for me.

Really dull & badly written.

Repeated vocab - trepidation 3 times in a few paragraphs, and describing your own tears a definite flaw most writers know. Ouch.
