Summary
Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!
Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.
The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.
In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?
In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.
In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.
In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.
Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn....

Critic reviews
"Jordan has a powerful vision of good and evil - but what strikes me as most pleasurable...is all the fascinating people moving through a rich and interesting world." (Orson Scott Card on The Wheel of Time)

Brandon Sanderson does it again
Having stumbled upon the wheel of time quite late (2 years ago) I found myself eagerly anticipating Brandon Sandersons continuation of the series. The late Robert Jordan I'm sure would be proud of the service Brandon has done for him as this book was amazing in my opinion, after a couple of slow books before it's really got me excited again, I truly am going to be sad when I finish this series, on to book 13!

Incredible
Very good narrations. Excellent storytelling and character development. Good memory is mandatory. Brandon Sanderson is worthy.

A great sequence!
Amazing thriller, can’t stop listening! Sanderson’s text makes tribute to the original. I am glad that the story continues further.

The characters haven't felt this alive in books.
There are some weak books in this series. This one too me a few weeks to listen to rather than months. I looked forward to my walks listening. The depiction of the characters feelings an emotions made this book for me.
Audio was fine. Inconsistent pronunciations across other books in the series, sometimes multiple by the same voice actor in this very book!

Immersed
I was totally immersed in this book and listened at every point in the day whenever an opportunity presented itself, carrying my phone around the house, headphones in when walking the dog...you get the picture! Brandon Sanderson has done an excellent job picking up the baton here after Robert Jordan sadly passed away. There is no literary jolt at all, the story seamlessly moves on, though he does use the word 'stout' a lot less which I appreciated. The Gathering Storm contines the physical and emotional journey of our heroes as they come closer to where they need to be for the Last Battle. Most satisfyingly we get to witness the rise of Egwene, who to me had the most engaging storyline in this book, as she tries to bring harmony to The White Tower and then takes on the Seanchan in an absolutely gripping battle. Matt Cauthon provides some comedic moments in his interactions with his companions and continues on being his irreverent and genuine self which provides a good counterpoint because Perrin continues to brood and Rand becomes almost as scary as the Dark One himself. We see Nyneve more in terms of her orbit around others but still of importance, similarly with Min in some ways, although she makes a revealing discovery towards the end of the book which gives us clues as to how events may play out in the Last Battle. Aviendha, although having a relatively small place in this book, has a significant and succint storyline and will no doubt play a larger part in things to come. No mention of Elayne, Loial or Land so one can only assume we will hear from them in Towers of Midnight. Rand goes on a bleak, dark and highly unsettling internal journey during this novel but he starts to (literally) see the light in the final parts of the book. All in all well done Brandon Sanderson, you knocked it out of the park and I am sure Mr.Jordan would be proud. As ever hats off to Kate Reading and Michael Kramer, whose voices bring the story to life and have obviously dedicated themselves to this journey since the moment they left the Two Rivers.

One of the best WOT books, narrated beautifully
After the last two painfully slow WOT books, this one picks up the pace. The characters feel more alive and rich than before so the darkness of the story.

One of my personal favourites
I love this book and the events that happen in it. Egwene has some of her best moments here, also being Brandon's first book it feel fresh and the best back to the best of Robert's books.

Normal material
I think this book is as well writen as the rest of the series.
Only thing I didn't like in this book is that the timeline changes between the caracters.
