Summary

The unforgettable story of one woman’s perilous journey to save, The Forbidden.

Rebaa’s adopted tribe lies slaughtered behind her. Rebaa’s lover, Juran, lays down his life for hers, and now she must use all of her cunning and extraordinary powers to survive the inhospitable wilderness alone, ensuring that Juran’s sacrifice was not in vain.

But Rebaa’s battle for survival has only just begun...

Hunted by savage predators and more terrifying still, the nightmarish Eldrax, a murderous chieftain who will stop at nothing to possess Rebaa’s mysterious powers for his own, her very existence becomes a life-or-death chase in the pursuit and quest to reach the one place that surely offers salvation and a safe haven she can call home. But what haven could possibly exist for one who bears The Forbidden?

Will Rebaa find her salvation, or will crushing loss, hardship, and the burden of carrying The Forbidden first destroy her from the inside out?

Includes a bonus story, Forbidden Son.

Loved this book

Whilst not on a level with the Clan of the Cave Bear, this is the closest I have found and I really enjoyed it. Narration was good too. I’ll definitely be moving straight on to book 2.

Epic and brilliant!

Absolutely loved this book and it’s superb narration. Utterly brilliant, brutal, raw, poignant and beautiful!

Great book, performed well.

Different to what I normally listen to, but would recommend. The saga continues, as I’m invested in what happens next

The Forbidden

I was excited to listen to this after seeing it recommended to fans of ‘Clan of the Cave Bear’. I am afraid that it falls way short. The characters lack depth, and the story seemed to lurch from one stage to another. I wanted to like Reba, but there was something missing. Overall the book left me not interested in what happens next, so I will not be listening to the rest in the series.

Incomprensible

Well written, but incomprehensible. Characters in tribes with apparently some sort of human social structure, but who live in trees and have giant spiders and other monsters as enemies. Go figure.

excess violence ruins decent storyline.

started out with a decent premise but I really didn't need the gorefest or slaughter of kids and teenagers and rape at which point I stopped listening. I prefer something a bit more cerebral but I'm sure this will appeal to a different demographic. I had high hopes for it but was disgusted at the totally unnecessary violence. A female narrator doing a poor job at a man's growling voice reminded me of jackanory....v. disappointed.
