Summary
An emotional thriller from the Sunday Times bestselling author of The Ice Cream Girls, My Best Friend's Girl and The Brighton Mermaid. Dorothy Koomson, 'Queen of the big reveal', is back with a gripping story full of twists and turns.
Pieta has a secret.
Ten years ago, Pieta was kidnapped by a man calling himself The Blindfolder who said he wouldn't kill her if she kept her eyes closed for 48 hours. She never told anyone what happened to her, vowing to move on with her life. But when The Blindfolder starts hunting down his past victims, Pieta realises she may finally be forced to tell her deepest secret to stay alive . . .
Jody has a secret.
Fifteen years ago, policewoman Jody made a terrible mistake that resulted in a serial killer known as The Blindfolder escaping justice. When Jody discovers journalist Pieta survived an attack by him, she realises she may finally have found a way to catch him. But that would mean endangering at least two innocent people . . .
They kept quiet to protect themselves.
Will telling all save or sacrifice each other?

A gripping read with a good twist.
Dorothy Koomson happens to be my go to Author I have always enjoyed reading her books although I wasn't too sure about this book at first. The start of the book had my attention but at times the middle of the it felt a bit long winded and hard to follow because of the author flitting back in time then jumping to the present.
However after a while this became more familiar and I started to kind of enjoy retracing the past to see how the future of the character have been formed because of past experiences.
I feel as many reviewers have mentioned that this story leaves the door open for a sequel.
I normally am very good at guessing who done it but this did surprise me although the reasoning for these horrendous acts was a bit weak in my view and didn't seem realistic.
This was an Audible book and it really did pull me into building a liking or disliking to a character very quickly. I will try another Audible book especially while we are in lock down.
It will be interesting to see if a sequel comes out and if so I will definitely give it a read. I did enjoy this book and was listening to it every time I had some spare time just to find out who did it.
I am happy to say Dorothy Koomson is still one of my favourite Author.

Gripped from the start
Fantastic story telling as always by Dorothy Koomson. Couldn't put it down. Loved the finale and the fact that enough has been left open for a sequel, I really hope that is the intention.

Good story
Enjoyed the story, the ending was disappointing to me unfinished about some of the characters. Narrator was good.

Koomson does it again!
Really gripping read. As always, Dorothy Koomson creates brilliant characters- multifaceted, complex women, whilst delivering an intelligent thriller with unpredictable plot twists and well thought out back stories that all interweave together to keep the reader guessing. I love how vivid the scenes become in one's mind thanks to Koomson's descriptions, that use words powerfully so the narrative doesn't become ladden and overly wordy.
The narrators were excellent and brings the characters individually alive and with clear distinction. There are couple of aspects of the plot that I found less convincing, but this may be more to do with my cycinism than the couple of details I struggled to take in as fluidly and enthusiastically as the majority of it. Overall definitely worth reading /listening to and I'm already looking forward to D. Koomson's next work!
