Summary
The shocking true story behind the hit TV drama Three Girls.
When detective Maggie Oliver first discovered that children as young as 10 were being groomed, abused and trafficked for sex by gangs of men in the Rochdale area, she felt like a lonely voice calling for people to act.
Banging on closed doors, it seemed that nobody was able or willing to help her save these vulnerable girls, but she couldn't just sit back while countless lives were being destroyed forever in plain sight. Instead, she launched a one-woman campaign to bring down these sickening gangs.
This is the heartbreaking and shocking story of how the actions of one determined detective secured convictions in what is now one of the most notorious grooming cases in the UK. Along the way Maggie discovered countless examples of how the authorities were letting down our most vulnerable children. She blew the whistle, losing her job and at times her mind, in a bid to stop others from experiencing the same.
This is the first ever account from a police insider on the endemic problem of child sexual exploitation across the nation and how these cases are handled by the authorities put in place to protect us.
It tells the story of a woman brave enough to speak out and a group of girls who found the strength to fight for justice after having their lives completely shattered by their abusers; together they show in shocking detail why this must never happen again.

Rotchadale abuse victims
I have watched three girls, read a couple of the Rochdale victims abuse and today I finished listening to Maggie Olivers audio book. I was so frustrated what Maggie had to endure through her life in the police and what barriers she was up against just because she was standing up for what she knew was the right thing to do. A lot off young people go through life been abused and they slip through the net. Maggie stood up do what she believed in well done to her I wish all people had the gumption off what she did for the rights of these victims well done and I hope you do well in the future.

A true legend.
Maggie Oliver is a hero for those of us who now follow her work and progress. A woman who's fought against all odds to support girls and boys like these in this book. A true story of how she was silenced by the police, councils, Cps, Social service departments to name but a few. Their failure is still a scandal!!! A very heartfelt and emotional ride for all those innocently involved. The grooming gang scandal is still on going with more victims coming forward. I advise anyone with children and grandchildren to listen to this book!

Such a shame it went to her head
Amazing work by Maggie Oliver and a good read until the final chapters, which I felt were too self indulgent.
Such a shame as I didn’t want this opinion of Maggie, as I really admire her work.
I have listened to podcasts featuring Maggie in the past and enjoyed them, so I knew I’d enjoy this book.
Which I did, for the most part.
Some of the wording sat uncomfortably with me and her honesty about demands to attend awards along with the entire indulgent epilog did spoil it a little for me.
That said, Maggie believes in honesty so I guess she’s laying it all bare, despite it painting her in a slightly less sparkly light.
Overall a good read, insightful and heartbreaking.
