Summary
*SHARPE’S COMMAND, the brand new novel in the global bestselling series, is available to pre-order now*
Portugal, 1811
Captain Richard Sharpe’s renegade ways leave him discarded by his regiment and waging a war against a private Portuguese enemy – one fought through the burning, pillaged streets of Coimbra.
Forced to retreat across treacherous terrain, the British army prepare vast defences at the Lines of Torres Vedras – their greatest secret and their last hope of stopping the French reaching Lisbon. And risking everything to re-join his regiment, and lead the army into battle once more, is Sharpe . . .

'Cornwell's narration is quite masterly and supremely well-researched.' (Observer)
‘The best battle scenes of any writer I’ve ever read, past or present. Cornwell really makes history come alive.’ (George R.R. Martin)

Good
What did you like most about Sharpe's Escape: The Bussaco Campaign, 1810?
Big fan of Sharpe, so always good to read a new book.
What about Rupert Farley’s performance did you like?
Great narration, great characterisation.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, too long.
Any additional comments?
Not the best of the Sharpe books, the ending somewhat trite, it is nonetheless a good listen, especially because of Rupert Farley.

Another fantastic addition.
Another fantastic story from Mr Cornwall. Sharpe arriving back with his men and taking charge was one of the finer moments in the series so far. I was grinning from ear to ear. This time we got a real glimpse at the horrors of war on civilians, although quite hard to hear it was a much needed reminder. The narrator as always done an outstanding job. His ease in which he flits between accents is unreal. Much like my other favourite novel series (Eagles of the Empire) I can now recognise characters from the voice actors impression alone.

Classic Cornwell,
Great story, well read. On to the next one. I don’t need 15 words to describe the book.

Classic Richard Sharpe
Classic Richard Sharpe, offending the gentry, rescuing damsels, and beating the crapaud out of crapauds. I wonder when he'll become Major?

Great story
Great story perfectly read. I have the full set of books, it’s very satisfying that all books are read by the same person. The narrator Rupert Farley is very good at giving individual voices to each character and reads the story with the relevant enthusiasm for setting the scene. As per usual Bernard Cornwell delivers a great historical perspective of what it might have been like to march with the British army in the 1800’s.

One of the best Sharpe books
Excellent story mixing battle descriptions that Cornwell excels at with a strong storyline and characters. Bit if a road trip story through sewers snd across country with partisans snd finishing with a really good skirmish battle before the Lines of Torres Vedras
