Summary

"Did you have relations with my brother?"

Good question.

I’d like to preface this by saying it was never my intention to ever get involved in a workplace romance, let alone get involved with the most surly, agitating, and pompous man I’ve ever met who just so happens to be my new friend’s brother.

My intentions were to show students how English and reading books could actually be fun and make a new life for myself in the suburbs of Chicago.

But so far, I’ve managed to be called into the principal’s office; I've been coerced into participating in the teacher's badminton league; and I've instigated passionate fights with Arlo Turner over education and decorum while losing my underwear at the same time.

Known as Mr. Turns Me On, he’s the reason I might get fired from my first ever teaching job.

5 Mr Turns Me On Stars

Arlo Turner and Greer Gibson. OMFG!! Combustible. I just loved their story. Of course it has the added bonus of being written by Meghan Quinn, the queen of super fun laugh out loud humour. I was laughing, I was crying, I was cringing. I had all the feels. All the characters were truly brought to life. Arlo is the Head of English at a prestigious high school, Greer is the newly qualified teacher on probation, and boy, do they wind each other up. Two different approaches to teaching. Arlo, the straight laced, stuck up, doesn’t bend the curriculum, lives by the rules, chump (although under those cardigans, there’s a pretty ripped torso). Then there’s Greer, the spirited, loud, bending the curriculum slightly to help her students gain a better understanding, grabs the bull by the horns, always looking on the bright side of life, sweetheart. It just so happens their friendship circles are one and the same, therefore not only are they forced to work next door to each other, they end up spending their downtime in each other’s company too. A faultless, perfect and completely addictive read for me. I did not want it to end. A must for all Meghan Quinn fans, and those who may be new to her writing, if you love fun, quirky characters, and you like a bit of sexy time (I’ll be honest this was hot, hot, hot), and love a great story, this book is for you. I loved it. The audiobook is just perfect. Laugh out loud funny, and narrated to perfection by Erin Mallon and Zachary Webber, two of my most favourite narrators.

Light and enjoyable

Very funny. I loved the pranks and the link to Pride and Prejudice. Zachary Webber is brilliant, as always, but I didn't like Erin Mallon's performance as much. At times she spoke like there were no commas at all. It's probably easier for Americans to understand the way she spoke. I got used to it eventually.

I loved it!

Greer and Arlo's workplace romance is sweet, funny, and sexy. They are opposites attract, and they are perfect together. I loved to follow them in their hilarious, and beautiful journey to love. The cast of supporting characters is impressive, and they have an important part in the story. Arlo's sister is an intriguing character and I would love to have her story. Gunner and Romeo are amazing secondary characters. I love the friendship in this story. Zachary Webber and Erin Mallon are perfect as Arlo and Greer. This is a great team Author/Narrators. This is a feel good romance, and I enjoyed it. I liked the bonus, Date Night, narrated by Connor Crais.

A must listen

I loved this audio so much. Full disclosure, I didn’t know a lot about this book when I asked to review it. I just knew that the narrators are in my top tier, and my good friend, Hayley, had read the book and said how good it was. She wasn’t wrong. I was hooked early on. I loved that Arlo was this grumpy strict teacher who had to endure Greer, a sort of new age teacher, who is sassy and quirky. It’s everything he doesn’t understand. Whereas Greer is wildly attracted to Arlo, even though he’s stuck up and arrogant. Their enemies to lovers relationship was some of the best buildup and tension I’ve ever read and it reminded me why I love that trope so much.

Although I was loving it, I was also torn a little, some of the behaviours seems really immature but then I found myself laughing too. It was like a push and pull—I don’t understand why they are they doing this? And, Oh, this is so funny. See? Torn! Overall, the laughter won out. And right now, in these times, don’t we all need a little laughter in our lives?

The girl crew in this book is fantastic. I loved their dynamic and their book club reminded me so much of my own, only mine isn’t in person. The way they supported and learned and accepted each other was just beautiful. The guy crew was pretty awesome too.

Back to being torn. The breakup, it’s a romance, so you know it has to happen. I understood why she was so mad, so I was totally on board for that. But I struggled a little with how it came about. I don’t want to spoil anything, so let’s just say, I felt it was extreme and unrealistic, I know, it’s fiction! And part of it could be because I’m in a different country so maybe my knowledge and understanding is lacking. But again, I was also in love with the grovel, so much so that I had tears and was cheering out loud. It was one of the best I’ve ever read. Soooo, that totally made up for that one tiny thing.

This is a long book and a good portion of it was them not getting along. The sexual tension was palpable and every time, I’d be sat there thinking, this is it, this is where it’s going to combust. Once they finally get together, holy smokes, somebody pass me a fan, talk about super-charged sexiness. I loved that Greer knew what she wanted and deserved and wasn’t afraid to go after it. The notes, sigh, the notes. I swooned hard.

Erin Mallon and Zachary Webber were pure perfection in this book. Their comedic timing was spot on and they really elevated this story and these characters. Zachary as the strict teacher was something I didn’t know I needed in my ears. And Erin as the sweet and sassy woman that brings him to his knees was brilliant. The transition from male to female and vice versa was smooth and seamless. Both Erin and Zachary have believable opposite gender voices and that really helps the listener get lost in the story and made the POV switches less jarring. Casting was spot on for this audiobook. And the production was fab with no issues to note.

The audio also contains a novella. Date Night. Performed by Connor Crais.
It was cute and a different change of pace from a typical romance. It’s a date night *gasp* shocker right there, right? Haha. For a married couple and it was fun seeing their dynamic and trying to have sexy time. Having listened to Three Blind Dates it was fun to see familiar characters.
Connor Crais was good, I’ve only listened to one other book by him and enjoyed it. He’s being used a lot more in romance, so I’m sure his name will be showing up in reviews frequently going forward. I’m assuming the accent during the role play scenes was supposed to be humorous, in which case, he nailed it. Production was good, with no issues to note.

Arlo and Greer!

Greer has the degree, the enthusiasm, and the teaching job of her dreams so what could possibly go wrong? She is ready to shape the minds of today’s youth with her outgoing and innovative ideas, but she hadn’t counted on a roadblock in the shape of her fellow teach Arlo.

Arlo comes across as reserved, judgmental and opiniated, but he wasn’t expecting the force of nature that Greer was. He prefers to keep his relationships uncomplicated and if there is one thing Greer isn’t that is it. The highlight out of her day is getting a reaction from him and when that happens the sparks fly.

The interactions between Greer and Arlo were fun and flirty and there is a great group of secondary characters that leave us wanting more stories set in this environment. The narrators did a great job at bringing all facets of the story to life.

4.5 Amazing Stars

I can't remember the last time I laughed quite so hard whilst 'reading'.

Not only is See Me After Class a sweet but serious romance novel but its also a brilliant example of a laugh out loud comedy.

Zachary Webber and Erin Mallon are masters at their craft. Their narration is an amazing soundtrack to the pictures running through the reader's head as Meghan Quinn's words take you on the, sometimes problematic, road to HEA with Arlo and Greer.

A fantastic Rom Com with unexpected steam!

I read the Ebook of See Me After Class prior to listening to the audiobook and it was one of my favourite Rom Com reads of 2020. So I was really intrigued to try the Audiobook to listen to while I was at work. Needless to say it was just as good as when I read the book originally.

Zachary and Erin brought Arlo and Greer to life perfectly with their performances. Capturing the tension and chemistry between the Hero and heroine as well as portraying the humour so well was audiobook gold. I think the atmosphere between secondary characters was also on point, especially when playing pranks on Arlo. This is a great romantic comedy audiobook that I think anyone who loves thing genre of audiobook or is looking to try one will love. It's one I will listen to over and over.
