Summary

Thirsty?

Take one reckless party boy. (That's me.)

Add an irresistible, hunky math teacher. (He's stupid-hot and driving me crazy.)

Throw in one ice-princess baby sister who hates my guts. (We'll work on that later.)

And you get: One HELL-raising cocktail of trouble.

Welcome to my life. Please drink responsibly.

Contains mature themes.

3.5 stars

I ended up liking this book far more than I expected, with how it was at the start. It’s almost like it dragged the feelings out of me as the story went on. Let’s face it, Matthew is a bit of a knob, and his choices are like those of a teenager rather than someone in their mid/late twenties. But once I started seeing him more like someone with ADHD and an irrepressibly impulsive personality, I actually softened towards him and felt an affectionate urge to wish him a better future. If I knew him in real life I would see him as a loveable rogue who made bad decisions easily if led astray. Like 10 year old.

I think his “woe is me, I hate my parents, my parents hate me” outlook was far too pubescent for me to get past enough to give a higher rating, though. Maybe that would have worked if he was younger. However his relationships were surprisingly well developed and believable and the writing and story were a lot better than I expected compared to other books in this genre.

Whilst writing this review I’ve upgraded the rating from 3 to 4 stars (as I can’t give a half star) because it has made a lasting impression.

I really enjoyed this story

I’ve been slowly going through Daryl Banner’s stories and I have yet to find one I have not loved, this book was definitely one of my favourites, not at all what o expected and I loved the journey and representation of the queer community as well as family values

Give it a go x

Loved it

The writing really made the character voice shine through, which was then performed perfectly in this audiobook. I loved the characters, loved the plot and I wish the main character could run commentary on other projects so I'd get to hear him again!

Slow and boring

It is slow going with one sided, iritating main person. Can not finish this book.
