Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The hilarious new book from the million-copy best-selling author of Faking Friends and Tell Me a Secret.

When Laura's marriage falls apart, she needs to find a home for her and her daughter. And quickly.

Welcome to the Close, a beautiful street of mansions, where Laura rents a tiny studio above a garage and gorgeous Stella is the indisputable queen bee who soon suspects Laura of having designs on her fiancé.

But when Laura unearths the ghastly secret he is hiding, it threatens Stella's perfectly curated world as well as Laura's career.

Hatching an elaborate plan to beat him at his own game, these former enemies are now best friends.

But has Laura forgotten that revenge always comes with a sting in the tail?

Easily listening

I'd never heard of Jane Fallon before and chose one of her books at random. It was ok and nice to listen to before bed but it wasn't exciting. I think I'm hard to please with books though.

Loved it!

I really enjoyed this book, excellent characters and enough twists to keep you guessing. Jo Joyner is an excellent narrator, I hope she does more.

Addictive like Haribo - perfect for the summer

Skilfully makes itself a page turner but it won’t tax you. Had to stay until the end. Not sure about the ‘sisterhood’ aspect as there is a lot of slagging women off for having had surgery and looking ‘perfect’, I get that it ingratiates the text with women who feel rubbish about how they look, myself included but haven’t we moved in from belittling other women for choices they make with their own bodies? Narrator is also irritating - some of the witty/dry lines are lost in her delivery. Having said that it didn’t stop me from wanting to know what happened which is the real test. Recommend.

Hooked from the first page

I’ve never not enjoyed a Jane Fallon book so I had high hopes. It didn’t disappoint. Loved the main character and the narrator made her very believable. It was an entertaining story and kept me interested until the end. Definitely a lovely summer listen!
