Summary

William Kent Krueger is the award-winning author of the popular Cork O’Connor mysteries. In Purgatory Ridge, Krueger crafts a riveting tale that has ex-sheriff O’Connor on the case after a heated town debate turns deadly.

The local Anishinaabe Indian tribe is furious to discover that Karl Lindstrom’s lumber mill is after a grove of trees sacred to tribal lore. So when the mill gets bombed, killing a man, the tribe is blamed. But O’Connor has a different theory.

Solve another case with Cork O'Connor.

A really satisfying thriller on many levels

A great story with intricate plots that weave together into a totally unexpected but believable climax. The characters developed as the setting in Northern Minnesota is brought to life as a worthy backdrop to this excellent book. The author's knowledge of the first American tribes brings them sensitively into the plot. The wide compass of this story makes it a compelling read.

One of my best reads in a while

Good story, well written and narrated, credible with a great if rather unexpected ending, Thank you, I will certainly buy another from the same series.

Proper mystery and jeopardy

Some personal analysis ....
This author is different from most modern authors, because females are not so lauded in that effort to appease the feminist ethos. There is a sympathetic portrayal of men, which I find totally refreshing.

Good characters and story

I guessed the twist 3/4 through hence the 4 star story rating. This is the second book and I really enjoy the pace. Taking time to build the characters and keeping the story moving along.
I’ll probably try the third in the series.

Blaring and dull

Not a mystery or thriller. Long and boring kidnapping plot with only one outcome. Waste of time and money.
