Summary

Do you have a child with oppositional defiant disorder and have no idea how to deal with him or her? Do your child’s defiance and aggression exhaust you and make you angry or worried? If so, this is the audiobook for you.

This book presents a new framework for understanding children’s defiant behavior. The framework is based on the principle that oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is largely learned. It is not the result of bad parenting or bad genes, but because of bad experiences with parents. By learning to communicate better with your child and by avoiding power struggles, you can change the way your child reacts to you.

All parents want their children to be happy, well-behaved, and to love them unconditionally. Yet there are some children who seem determined not to give their parents this satisfaction. This audiobook contains a proven program for overcoming a child's negative behavior and teaching him or her the skills he needs for cooperative living. These lessons are based on behavioral principles that have been shown to be successful in many difficult child situations.

The author covers from young child to teen discussing many different scenarios and gives tons of ideas on how to cope with a child with ODD. Insightful book on parenting

This book offers a compassionate and insightful approach to understanding and managing what is called Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) in children. Dr. Ross Greene presents a very informative perspective on addressing challenging behavior by emphasizing collaboration and problem-solving rather than punishment. The book provides practical strategies and real-life examples, making it an excellent resource for parents, educators, and mental health professionals seeking alternative methods for dealing with explosive behavior in children with ODD."

Fabulous Instruction

Wow! I am blown away with the info contained in this book. Truly was not expecting to gain insight in things like asthma and vision and many other ways that our somatic symptoms manifest into explosive behaviors. Such an insightful resource that I plan to order copies for my staff and parents to use.

I have a new way of parenting now

This audiobook really made a difficult situation much easier to handle. It really had me look at our child as a human, instead of a child, and this helped with the "power struggle." Definitely learned a lot about how my parents parented me and how its NOT going to work with our child. Finding new ways to parent that help THIS specific person as they grow up.
