Summary

Best-selling author Helen Fields is back with her best book yet. A masterful crime thriller that is set to be the most memorable listen of 2022.

One for sorrow, two for joy....

Edinburgh is gripped by the greatest terror it has ever known. A lone bomber is targeting victims across the city, and no one is safe.

Three for a girl, four for a boy....

DCI Ava Turner and DI Luc Callanach face death every day - and not just the deaths of the people being taken hostage by the killer.

Five for silver, six for gold....

When it becomes clear that with every tip-off they are walking into a trap designed to kill them, too, Ava and Luc know that finding the truth could mean paying the ultimate price.

Seven for a secret never to be told....

But with the threat - and body count - rising daily, and no clue as to who’s behind it, neither Ava nor Luc know whether they will live long enough to tell the tale....

With twists and turns you’ll never see coming, prepare to be gripped by this devastatingly good thriller. Perfect for fans of Stuart MacBride and MJ Arlidge.

Another cliffhanger!

Helen Fields series really goes from strength to strength. With each book, there’s character development of the central characters and although this works very well as a stand alone, there’s a section that helps DI Callanach better understand past personal events. His relationship with DCI Ava Turner has stalled but is further explored. So in addition to outstanding character development, there’s a fast paced plot in a race against time to find a serial bomber who’s targeting individuals. The body count mounts and there’s little progress.

Fields writing is assured and convincing and I devoured this audio title in a couple of sittings. And the cliffhanger at the end keft me breathless, truly. Miss this at your peril!

Another great listen

I love this series, particularly in its Audible form as the narration is so very good. I find the characters extremely engaging from
Luc Callanach to Lively and am invested in them - a rare feeling! I shall be very sad if this is the last in the series. We were left with a cliff hanger which I would like to be resolved. I feel there are more books to be written in this series.

Heart wrenching

I was absolutely floored after reading this, quite different to the other books in the series in my opinion. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it, I definitely did and couldn’t stop listening but I needed to take a break and heal my heart with some light hearted content for a long while after this book!!

Love this series

Another edge of your seat, fingernail nibbling read. Excellent story telling. Helen Fields never disappoints (unless she kills Luc off).
More & more please
