Summary
Action thriller by the classic adventure writer set in the Pacific.
When Mark Trevelyan dies on a journey to a remote Pacific atoll, the verdict that it was natural causes doesn’t convince his brother, Mike. The series of violent attacks that follows only adds to his suspicions. Just two clues – a notebook in code and a lump of rock – are enough to trigger off a hazardous expedition, and a violent confrontation far from civilization…
Critic reviews
'As long as meticulous craftsmanship and honest entertainment are valued, and as long as action, authenticity, and expertise still make up the strong framework of the good adventure/thriller, Desmond Bagley's books will surely be read.' REGINALD HILL, Twentieth Century Crime and Mystery Writers
‘The detail is immaculately researched – the action has the skill to grab your heart or your bowels.’ DAILY MIRROR
'Mr Bagley has no equal at this sort of thing.' SUNDAY MIRROR

Another Great Novel
I love Desmond Bagley and read them all years ago borrowed from my dad. Glad they are being made into audio so I can listen whilst doing my chores.

Good story, nautical terms garbled
This is a good story with quite a few twists and some interesting information about manganese nodules - no, honestly. But for a novel set at sea, why not get an editor and / or a reader who knows nautical terms. I finally laughed out loud when 'matelots' was pronounce 'mate' (rhymes with date) 'lots'.

Below par
Pace is slow and gets slower. Characters are wooden. The narrator is weak. Plot barely hangs together.
