Great prequel
Enjoyed learning more about Lan and Moiraine's back story. I have two of the books left in the series. Can't wait!

Good
Im now on book 7 in the wheel of time series and looking back on this one, it was slow to start with but and some very funny parts and a exciting ending which made me continue.4/5 cuz it was slow and a bit hard to understand at times.

I love these narrators, they're two of my favourites however I wish Michael Kramer had spoken a touch slower.

A great book, setting the scene.
A great storey, setting the scene for the epic to follow. The whole series is a major investment in time, but totally worth it.

Worth the wait
Michael & Kate have brought the Wheel of Time series/ology to life on audio format. I got tired of reading each of these mamouth stories. Each one told in such detail. In the end we knew how the heroines were going to react. The good thing was we didn't know if our hero or all the heroes were going to survive. So I left this story to last, it didn't disappoint, we knew the characters already. But we didn't know this story. Again the writing draws the reader into a world of interesting relationships told in detail, ending with a dramatic encounter after taking us through lands of poverty & great riches. I think personally I would choose to write in less detail, but I find myself saying when reading other fantasy, ' If I was '....' I would react like this or do that. So those characters are very real now in my mind. Good work Robert Jordan. Listening to the story takes as long as to read so settle down & enjoy the world of The Wheel of Time.

Wonderful look at the past of beloved characters
This was a good book but not great. It feels a bit rushed in places, especially the ending. Although the ending is very satisfying due to its somewhat pyrrhic nature.
I think its a clever way to do a prequel because whilst by its nature you know some aspect of the ending, you only know the outcome of one relationship and three characters meaning the stakes felt real.
As ever the narration by Kramer and Reading are sublime. They bring these books to life so vividly that the characters feel like close friends.

Gripping to the very end
I loved the female reader. She took you right into the story and head of Moreen.
Very worth while to listen to but know you will be hooked. Thanks for the many more books to come.
