Summary

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis comes anothe STEMinist rom-com in which a scientist is forced to work on a project with her nemesis - with explosive results.

Bee Königswasser lives by a simple code: What would Marie Curie do? If NASA offered her the lead on a neuroengineering project - a literal dream come true - Marie would accept without hesitation. Duh. But the mother of modern physics never had to co-lead with Levi Ward.

Sure, Levi is attractive in a tall, dark, and piercing-eyes kind of way. But Levi made his feelings toward Bee very clear in grad school - archenemies work best employed in their own galaxies far, far away.

But when her equipment starts to go missing and the staff ignore her, Bee could swear she sees Levi softening into an ally, backing her plays, seconding her ideas... devouring her with those eyes. The possibilities have all her neurons firing.

But when it comes time to actually make a move and put her heart on the line, there's only one question that matters: What will Bee Königswasser do?

"Your world is about to be rocked." (Elena Armas, author of The Spanish Love Deception)

"Hopelessly, brilliantly, wonderfully romantic. I loved it even more than The Love Hypothesis, and I didn't think that was possible." (Cressida McLaughlin)

Okay

Personally, I’ve decided that the enemies to lovers trope is not for me. I just never believe that two people are “arch nemeses” 😑 I also thought this book was quite predictable

Couldn't put it down 😍loved it!

There is something about Ali's books that make them just irresistible. Yeah, the story feels a lot like The Love Hypothesis, as most of her books do, but the few differences are enough to make it worthwhile. It is an extremely slow burn, but when it happens it's 🔥🔥 🔥. The romcom part is funny, with cute banter and hilarious conversations and inner monologues. I absolutely love the STEM part is really fun too and the entire story was super entertaining.
I loved the narration, Brooke Bloomingdale was excellent, her interpretation of characters was perfection and her voices were really good. It would have been better to have had a male narrator too but she did a great job and made the story better anyway.

Easy; predictable

Not as good as The Love Hypothesis but a nice easy listen for a beach read! Voices brilliant; a great narrator

Better story than Love Hypothesis

I really enjoyed this book, it’s well written and I loved the banter. However, found the part were the protagonist couldn’t believe anything a bit annoying, hence the 4 stars.

I preferred this book over Love Hypothesis. So if you enjoyed LH- you should enjoy this one too, very similar story.

***

I enjoyed this book however not as much as Ali’s other- live hypothesis. It took a long time to get into. By the end it was enjoyable.

Exceptional

I fell in love with Levi, my only wish is to know more about him. The character development was beautifully done and the plot was quite unexpected. Nerds falling for each other may be my new favorite trope.

I wanted to scream

I wanted to SCREAM while reading this and then listening to it. the second they mention anonymous twitter pals and then her wearing her grans wedding ring you just know the rest of the book is full of miscommunication tropes . super annoying!!

but the romance parts were cute and I like the science. and I just really feel bad for levi the guy needs a hug and a slap!

Impressive use of the word ‘hilt’

No one is expecting these books to be great literature and I personally love a happy ending but there were points where the cliches were a bit much.

Bee is a standard Manic Pixie Dream Girl who is ‘edgy’ because she has a few piercings and a tat or two. I see edgier people on the school run so that was unconvincing. She didn’t want to date anyone but still put herself through a monthly trip to have her foof fully waxed which seemed utterly ridiculous as did one particular kitchen scene (you’ll know it when you hear it) where it just read like a 15 year old boy’s ultimate fantasy.

Levi was, I think, meant to be a bit tortured and undemonstrative because his dad was mean to him and that was why he gave the impression he hated Bee when in reality he was struggling to cope with being in such close proximity to his perfect woman. No woman who faints at such minor things (classic damsel in distress being rescued set up) could be classed as perfect, she was too much of risk to his health insurance.

The reader was good, managed to say some utterly ridiculous things with a straight face and everything.

All in all I enjoyed listening to it but I would have been embarrassed if I’d been caught.
