Summary
With a knife in his gut, Rowan figured he was destined to become just another corpse littering the slums of Taureen.
So he was fairly surprised to wake up in the back of a moving wagon with a couple of adventurers. Turns out that Rowan had been given something most street rats can only dream of—a second chance.
With only a sword, a spell book, and enough gold for tuition, he is thrust into a school for aspiring adventurers. A world full of haughty nobles, scions of wealthy families, and various other types of people he used to steal from.
Here, Rowan must vie for his place among students who have been diving in their family-owned dungeons for years, their bodies filled with dense mana instead of tavern scraps and the occasional pilfered apple pie. He will have to fight, study, and keep his true past a secret.
Because Faebrook Academy is his second chance. His last chance.
About the series: Follow Rowan, a lowly street rat, on his journey to becoming a legendary adventurer in a world where diving monster-filled dungeons infuses your body with mana and helps you climb from lowly bronze tier all the way to the fabled platinum tier. But first, he has to graduate.

Tom Brown school days eat your heart out
I confess I am fickle and bought the book and the audible for the cover, then the summary and was glad I did as it was a great book, well worth my pennies.
The narration is clear without any frustrating quirks
Spoilers
Rowan almost dies on the streets, but is recused by two adventurers who set him up at Faebrook Academy where he needs to use all his street smarts to stay ahead of the nobles and keep from being a dagger pin cushion again, with a little help from a select few, but will it be enough to survive the year?

Good, but not great. Buy if you like slow paced story telling and the magic academy trope.
While I love slow paced stories this one is odd to me. the focus between slice of life and adventure is not done in a particular good way imo. furthermore, there are multiple characters breaks for mc being portrayed as a cutthroat street urchin then falling back on it and suddenly becoming an emotional dredge. I'm a sucker for the setting and overall the book is good, but it will never be in my top 10.

Fantastic fantasy magic academy story
This is a great fantasy story, set in a magic academy. The world building is good, the characters are well written with good dialogue and an epic plot. The narrator is fantastic as usual. If you liked the cradle series or all the skills, and you enjoy this genre, then you will love this audiobook. I will definitely be getting book two as soon as it comes out.

Great read, engaging and interesting.
It is very similar to the name of the wind. In fact, certain parts of it were better.

I rarely give 5 stars, but this is worth it. Recommend buy
Heavily recommend to buy this one. It’s a long audiobook, it’s got good narration, story, written and the characters make excellent decisions according to their characters which is just a must for me.
Overall I went into this book without expecting much, but damn was I wrong. I am writing this review right after finishing it, and am pretty annoyed that there aren’t more books of this caliber in progression fantasy out that I haven’t read. My review may not be the best written, but it’s mainly due my annoyance at having to go back to books that aren’t written as good as this one. You all know the feeling of emptiness after finishing a good book and now having nothing to read…
This is what Harry Potter would be if it was a progression story. It takes clear inspiration from HP, but it still does it’s own thing.
The characters are excellently written, with clear motivation, and without the mic just being a OP guy from the first chapter. The mc is likeable, while also having a slightly dark side, which suits me very well. The stakes aren’t the highest, but since the writing is so excellent the rewards feels amazing when the mc is rewarded. Stellar performance.
The narration is excellent, with a variation that made it easy to follow who were talking, and a pleasing voice. I have listened to this guys other books, and he does a stellar performance almost every time.
The book itself does have some flaws, but it does rectify a lot of them during the story’s progression. The missing plot being my main problem, but the plot shows up at the end, which just makes my blood boil that there aren’t more books in this series(I just finished this book and kind of annoyed that I can’t find anything more to read on this series)
The world building is excellent, the world feels lived in.
The main downside is that there is only one book released, which kind of sucks. I will be buying every book in this series, but it’s kind of annoying that this book was just released so will probably have to wait a bit.

School Adventure
The first chapter is tough, yeah we get it, he's a street urchin. The second chapter where the story kicks off and starts to get fun. This is a straight fantasy boarding school book. Good character development with a great twist ending. Can't wait for the second one!
