Summary

The first book in an unmissable and ferociously exciting adventure series for listeners of David Gemmell, Christian Cameron, and Simon Scarrow.

Greece is in turmoil, divided by feuding kingdoms desiring wealth, power, and revenge. When young soldier Eperitus comes to the aid of a group of embattled warriors, little does he know he will join the charismatic Odysseus, Prince of Ithaca, on a legendary quest to save his homeland.

Odysseus travels to Sparta to join the most famous heroes in paying suit to the sensuous Helen. Armed with nothing but his wits, he enters a treacherous world of warfare and politics to compete for the greatest prize in Greece.

But few care for the problems of an impoverished soldier when war with Troy beckons....

Brilliant first book in a series of four

The first book in a series of four, absolutely fantastic- well written , well researched and very well narrated.
This book kept me hooked from the first line to the opening credits.
It’s a shame that the next three books are with a different narrator who thinks somehow that the Trojans should speak with comedy Irish accents.
Think Mr O’Reilly the builder on Fawlty Towers.
You couldn’t make it up!!!
So I’m returning the next book in the series and going on a popular purchasing website and buying the books in paperback- so I don’t have to endure the ridiculous narrative that has blighted the next three books in the series.

Great story - doubtful narrator

The narrator has agood voice and sometimes is really doing great. But then he seems to read without consciousness of the text - accelerates haphazardly and massacres the text
