Summary

A widely acclaimed international best seller, I'm Not Scared combines a coming-of-age narrative with a satisfying and spine-tingling story of suspense.

A sweltering heat wave hits a tiny village in Southern Italy, sending the adults to seek shelter while their children bicycle freely throughout the countryside, playing games and getting into trouble. When the gang find a dilapidated farmhouse, nine-year-old Michele Amitrano makes a discovery so momentous he dare not tell a soul. It is a secret that will force Michele to question everything and everyone around him.

An enthralling thriller, I'm Not Scared is also a devastatingly authentic portrayal of childhood and the tension when it must join the adult world.

I’m not scared

Disappointing. A good story spoiled by poor dialogue. Characterisation of children and their conversations un convincing

Italian Adventure Story

Enjoyed it. Narrator captured child narrator voice well and nice Italian setting. Quite short. Slightly old fashioned adventure story perhaps and ending felt a little curtailed.

An uncomfortable story well told

I’d like to read another book by this author as I found the story well crafted but the subject rather unpleasant. There was no time where the reader/listener could relax because the plot kept you consistently on edge.

enjoyable

I enjoyed this book, but have to admit found it a bit tense at times for a bed time book!

Disappointing Finish

This started out as a really good adventure story but it didn't finish. Very disappointing and a total waste of five hours. A promising start but unfortunately the ending was very weak and it was a case of "Wait! Did the book just finish!?". Left feeling deflated and frustrated and disgruntled at such a let down ending. The only positive was the narrator!
