Summary
Carole Seddon's trusty Renault is one of her most treasured possessions. So when it is vandalised, there's only one person she will entrust with its repair: Bill Shefford has been servicing the vehicles of the good citizens of Fethering for many years. But how could something like this happen in Fethering of all places?
Then the note is shoved under Carole's kitchen door: Watch out. The car window was just the start. She has been deliberately targeted. But by whom and why?
Matters take an even more disturbing turn when a body is discovered at Shefford's Garage, crushed to death by a falling gearbox. It appears to be a tragic accident. Carole and her neighbour Jude are not so sure.

Adore the Fethering mysteries
Adore these light and fluffy mysteries. I like the humour and that they are read by the author.

just saying .....
again a good listen but I do think The author should check his legal facts - the spousal intestacy rules are not quite as simple and straightforward as he represents them.

Fethering Mysteries latest.
Another enjoyable foray to Fethering, brilliantly read by the author. Although the BBC-type digs that middle-aged British women are all racist is tedious.

Not the best in the series
I became a big fan of the series and Simon Brett, he is a brilliant author and narrator. I have listened to all the books 1-19 in the series, there were some really good English mysteries, both contemporary but also written in a classic sleuthing style. I have to say that I don’t like how the relationship between Carol and Jude has developed in the last books and didn’t like their dynamic in this particular book. By now there should have been a strong bond, fondness and admiration, instead I can see unwillingness, reluctance, jealousy and negativity. I really thought that book 19 was the last in the series, the sleuthing partnership doesn’t seem to be going so well, which is a but disappointing.

Entertaining as ever
I love these books , great plots and very entertaining characters but also a hint of deeper themes like how we communicate or not and the consequences of that . Alway narrated with skill by the author , I’ve heard a few books narrated by authors and it’s not always a success but Simon Brett is wonderful at creating the right tone and pace .

Hooked on Fethering Mysteries!
Full of comic social observations, & a delightful critique of the modern middle classes.

Another brilliant Fethering mystery!
As with all the books, this was no exception with a brilliant storyline, read by Simon Brett, who makes it even better. I'm worried now that he's thinking of sending Jude away, so I beg him, please, please don't. I can wait for the next book!!!
