Summary

They came to earth - Pestilence, War, Famine, Death - four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.

Ana da Silva always assumed she’d die young - she just never expected it to be at the hands of Famine, the haunting immortal who once spared her life so many years ago. But if the horseman remembers her at all, he must not care, for when she comes face to face with him for the second time in her life, she’s stabbed and left for dead.

Only, she doesn’t quite die.

If there’s one thing Famine is good at, it’s cruelty. And how these blighted bastards deserve it. Try as he might, he can’t forget what they once did to him. But when Ana, a ghost from his past, corners him and promises pain for what he so recently did to her, she and her empty threats captivate him, and he decides to keep her around.

In spite of themselves, Ana and Famine are drawn to each other. But at the end of the day, the two are enemies. Nothing changes that. Not one kind act, not two. And definitely not a few steamy nights. But enemies or reluctant lovers, if they don’t stop themselves soon, heaven will.

Plants, death and attitude.

This has got to be my favourite series's of Laura Thalassa's, it's one of the most emotional yet terrifying stories I've ever read. Whilst not scary, the cruelty that humans are capable of seems much worse than the horsemen. Famine is by far the most sadistic of the three that's released, but he's so much more than just cruel and deadly. You really get a feel for the main characters, their pain, their struggles and all their frustrations. This book ends with a bang, so to speak. Waiting for the next one is going to be more painful than anything that I read in this series.

Amazing!

I utterly adored Ana! She was so funny and sweet and I just wanted her to survive and get her happy ending! Famine took longer than the others to soften up a bit but I loved him when he opened up, worryingly for me I’ve found myself totally on the side of all the horsemen so far haha, I don’t know if it’s the amazing portrayal of them or if I’m very biased against humanity because I agree that we are truly ruining the earth and as a SA survivor myself I really empathised with Ana in some ways! I didn’t like that they added the male narrator into this one towards the end, as the usual female narrator does amazing male voices and didn’t need any help! She makes these books totally come alive! I don’t know how the series can end now but I’m excited to find out!

Famine finally gets his brilliant story!

This is the third book in the horseman series, it can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend you read all the books to get the best enjoyment. This book does have triggering content such as violence and death.

Have you ever read a book that has you hooked on the first page; you can’t put it down until you’ve consumed every single word? Whenever you come across one of these books you know they are special and Famine is most definitely special.

I knew I would love the other two horsemen and I did. However, with Famine I was curious about what we would discover and if he would be different from the others. Famine is different from Pestilence and War (in both his journey and his personality). I felt his story was more real and had a lot more layers to it.

Ana was an unexpectedly great heroine: funny, compassionate, strong, unapologetic and most of all unforgettable.

Susannah Jones was absolutely amazing at bringing the characters to life, she is probably one of the best narrators I’ve listened to. I only wish that Jay Ben Markson narrated more!

If you enjoyed Pestilence and War, I implore you to read Famine - you won’t regret it.

Excited to see what Death’s story will unfold! Hopefully we get to see the other horsemen as well!

It's good

I didn't immediately liked the story. It took a few chapters to get in to it. But then it really took off! Famine is a real basterd, I love that. The humor in this book is SSSOOO good!
Most memorable moment is when she asked him if he wants her to give him "service" under his own tree and when she loses her boots!
Susannah Jones is a real artist. I love how she makes the story come alive. Jay Ben Markson constantly sounds out of breath. It was a little annoying. But it was a real pleasure to listen to this story.
