Summary

Gavin Kingsley burst into my life in a sharp and unexpected twist of fate. You know his type - arrogant, dangerously handsome and impossible to ignore.

Something dark within him calls to the shadows inside me. I long for the kind of heart-wrenching passion I've only read about, and his tragic past reads like one of my favorite literary classics. Raw. Visceral. Captivating. Together, we're a perfect mess.

The deeper I fall into his world, the more I crave him like a drug - he pushes every boundary I have and challenges everything I thought I wanted. I want to unlock his heart. I want his dirty secrets.

But in the end, will he be the blade that cuts me...or the bond that makes my life complete?

Super hot duet

Self made millionaire and super hot alpha male Gavin Kingsley doesn’t do relationships, not since his relationship ended with his long time girl friend years earlier. He runs a successful escort agency with his two brothers, and he has plenty of women vying for his attention, why spend time with the same woman twice. But, after a year of eye flirting with meek and mild, yet super sexy librarian Emma Bell, he finds himself leaving his business card in her sights, and yes, she takes the bait. Emma has been fantasising about the sexy stranger she semi stalks every morning in the coffee shop and when she finds his business card, curiosity gets the better of her and she finds herself in the offices of the exclusive escort agency, Forbidden Desires. Meeting Gavin’s younger brother Cooper and coming to an agreement with both brothers, I’m thinking she bit off more than she could chew, but admirably she manages quite well with the advances from both brothers. I love the writing and the story so much, and surprisingly the fact that it's a duet and a cliffie didn't ruin it for me (probably because I've just purchased book 2, and I'm getting stuck in as soon as I've written this review). I can't wait to find out where book two takes me and although I have an inkling about Gavin’s past I'm thinking there are going to be a few skeletons coming out of the closet from both Emma and Gavin. I received a copy of this audiobook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. The narration from Zachery Webber is spot on, I love it. Megan Tusing was the perfect librarian. Brilliant audio.

A little dark, intense and mysterious.

Kendall Ryan skillfully navigates her audience through this roller coaster ride of a story. She has created intense characters with interesting, challenging and somewhat tragic back stories and put them together in somewhat mysterious, slightly dark and definitely intense circumstances.

The somewhat innocent head librarian Emma Bell finds herself in a non-relationship tug-of-war between Gavin Kingsley and his brother. However the heart wants what it wants, which apparently means Gavin with his inner darkness, his need to dominate and his secrets. Just when Emma bypasses some seemingly insurmountable obstacles and feels she may be able to connect with Gavin, a dark secret involving a past tragedy promises to send the characters into another tailspin.

This plot has all the potential for a HEA but the reader will not find it in this book. Luckily there is more to come in the next part of Gavin and Emma's story. I am looking forward to listening to the next book.

I really appreciated the two narrators for this book as it maked it easier to keep track of whose POV was being focused on at any given point in the story. Zachary Webber and Megan Tusing each do a wonderful job of bring the characters' inner thoughts and turmoil to life.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

A compelling, character driven story

Kendall Ryan really knows how to get into a reader’s head and heart. And man, can she write a heck of a sex scene. I felt so many different emotions listening to this book. It’s a day later and I’m still thinking about it, what happened, what could happen, how things are going to play out in the next book.

The sweet sexy librarian and the bad boy, you know I was going to love it, and I did. This book grabbed me from the first chapter and never let go. I had to listen to the book in one sitting because I had to know what was happening, who needs food or exercise when you are engrossed in a fantastic story? Not this girl! I did feel some of the details were a little repetitive at times, nothing major and it didn’t really interfere with the story, just personal taste, I guess. I feel like book two is going to break me, in the best possible way. I’m stocking up on Kleenex just in case.

The characters in this story are really quite compelling. I’ve been thinking about this for a day or two now and I loved the interactions and how each character was so unique and not at all what you’d expect. I loved Emma, I thought she was a sweetheart. She’d been through hell but didn’t let that dull her sparkle and her strength shone throughout the book. Yeah, she’s a librarian, but Kendall didn’t make her your typical librarian, which I loved, because what rulebook says they have to be sweet and innocent?
Gavin was such a complex character, he’d obviously experienced a lot of hurt in his life and now guards himself, to his own detriment. I just wanted him to open up to Emma and let her in. I may have shouted at him to tell her everything, that she’d understand. But when do characters ever do what I tell them? I liked the conflict he was going through, you get to experience that with him throughout the book, his head and heart pulling him in different directions.

The relationship between Gavin and Emma gave me whiplash, seriously, I wanted to take that man by the…. ok, I’ll take a breath and calm myself. He drove me a little crazy. He’d be so sweet one moment and the next he’d be a total jerk. I felt so bad for Emma, but at the same time, I was getting frustrated because she kept going back, although, he is kinda irresistible, so it makes sense. The chemistry between Gavin and Emma was undeniable and I think that is why even though Cooper was amazing, I was rooting for Gavin. You can’t fight against that sort of attraction. With that being said I am so excited to get the next book and see where the story leads, I hope that things can be resolved because they are explosive together and I’m a sucker for a happily ever after.

Both narrator voices complemented each other and worked perfectly together for the story. I’ll definitely be seeking out their combo in the future.
This was my first audiobook narrated by Megan Tusing and I really enjoyed her performance, on a couple of occasions it sounded like the characters had a southern drawl, but it was a kind of blink and you miss it sort of moment, enough to warrant a mention but not enough to impact the overall performance or knock it down a star. The switch between male and female voices was smooth and each voice was distinct. Megan was perfect for Emma; a sweet but commanding performance. I am really looking forward to listening to more from Megan.

This was not my first experience with Zachary Webber, that man has skill, I thoroughly enjoyed his performance. He narrates the POV chapters for both Gavin and Cooper. When I first realised that was going to happen I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it; if it’s another person, it needs another voice, right? Nope. Webber is that good that it didn’t require another narrator. Each character is so distinct and he really gives life to each one. His performance of Gavin was my favourite, he has that commanding tone to his voice that suited the character perfectly.

I NEED PART TWO NOW!

What made the experience of listening to Dirty Little Secret the most enjoyable?

The voice actors, INCREDIBLE JOB!

Any additional comments?

I listened to this book in one sitting, and I can't wait to start the concluding part.

Loved Zachary Webber, he provided voices for the Kingsley brothers and did needed to fan myself few times whilst listening to it, it was pure gold.

Who hasn't fantasised about a mysterious person, someone you get to see on a daily basis, maybe in your local coffee shop, that is exactly what Emma Belle would do every time she would see Gavin. Lost in her fantasy world never in a million years expected one morning to have her world upside down after one "look" and a business card. Once that little piece of information was in Emma's hands, there was no going back and the story begins to enfold. Gavin's world is as mysterious as the man in question, but a glimpse into it has Emma wondering his intentions. At first he is standoffish and literally pushes her into the arms of his brother, Cooper, who by the way is not only sexy but has a heart of gold, you can't help but fall for him instantly. The heart wants what the heart wants however and Emma is fixated with getting through to Gavin, who's harbouring a dark secret from his past and therefore has never acted on his emotions.

Super HOT, SEXY AND THOROUGHLY ENGROSSING, part one of this story will leave you panting for more.

SUPERB

Loved this audio book, Zackary Webber (Jacob Morgan) and Megan brought this book to life. I like Kendall's books and this one was superb. The story is great, but no spoilers here. It's well worth the credit but it ends on a cliffhanger so let's hope you have another credit saved or just buy some more to listen to the final book in the duet. Well worth a credit 😍😍😍😍😍

Great Start to a New Series

Zachary Webber and Megan Tusing did a great job at narrating which really helped me get into the story a lot quicker than I probably would of if I was reading it, but that's not to say that I didn't enjoy it as I did and the chemistry between the characters were easy and natural.

I can't wait to see how everything is going to turn out for the Emma and the brothers.
