Summary

Nothing has changed more in the last few decades than our concept and perception of reality. The effects have manifested in our news, entertainment, and Google searches; we're finding that a lot of things we thought were objective aren't automatically so.

Reality is not a concept we want to flush down the toilet with yesterday's food, though. However, we must begin to understand how it works in a world where profit is the driving force.

Thought provoking and accessable read

I don't know if it's just the fact Peter is used to writing YouTube videos but this book is one of the easiest books to listen to and digest I have listened to. The arguments are laid out in simple, easy to understand terms, the chapters never feel bloated or convoluted and Peter keeps your attention throughout. I'm already aware of many of the ideas presented in this book through having watched Peter's videos but this was a really good summary and deeper dive in to many of the ideas seen discussed there. I appreciate the nuance in this book and the updating of older philosophical commentary in a way that shows a lot of deep understanding about modern day life and internet culture. Not every line of argument is perfect but the overall idea of custom reality is one that really resonated at the end of the book.
