Critic reviews

"I loved this novel so much, even though it’s probably the most heart-breaking story I’ve read all year...it will totally absorb you and capture your heart." ( That Thing She Read)
"I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. It has all the ingredients for a perfect read: fantastic, loveable and very real characters, an emotional and compelling storyline, and a brilliant setting in time and place." (Louise Douglas)

Heart warming story

This has to be one of the best stories I have listened to both books 1 and 2 were gripping and something not to be put down .

Definitely worth a listen

Lovely story but I wish Dottie had been a stronger character. Time after time she forgave and returned to a cheating man. She could have done better.

Great continuation of story line

I love the way they also managed to incorporate the storyline from book one and thread it through book 2. The narration in this book was much better, slower and more space between sentences and the start of new paragraphs.

There was one particular time where the speed was reminiscent of book one, although after a few paragraphs she slowed down again.

Beautiful, but inevitable ending although I’m looking forward to reading book 3.

Thank you.

Quirky fun, easy listen

I know I wasn’t super happy after listening to the first book, thinking it was a bit much and trying too hard to be funny. So I left the next book in my library for a long time before I tried again. This time around I enjoyed it more, and maybe this book was better? I’m glad I read it in the end and I absolutely adore dad and aunt Brenda. As a pallet cleanser between crime, fantasy and mystery it did a great job, mood lightened and brain emptied I’m ready for something else.

mixed feelings

I loved the actual story, and book one too, but although the narrator has a nice voice, some of the characters voices were awful, mainly Rita and Carol , and the long pause at the end and beginning of each chapter drove me nuts! have never come across that in all the books I've listened to.

Emotional Rollercoaster

Never sure how it was going to end, but always hoping it would have a happy ending - which it did
Also the other characters lives had sadness and loss too
A really good read with a mix of emotions

Love love loved this trilogy

This is the first time I have read any sandy Taylor, and I have fell in love with her work. Funny, sad, and very gripping. I'm now in the middle of the runaway children and again brilliant!!! My new best writer, thank you for your brilliant stories, being bed ridden is now less depressing, since I've found your books. 😊
