Great storyline great narrator

This was a great story and Lucy and Asher are a great couple. I could not put this story down. There were many parts in this book that I laughed out loud. There was suspense that also kept me reading/listening. There was great storyline with a trope I normally not a fan of, fake fiancé, but this book was a great one. This was my first narration by Lacy Laurel and I will keep looking for some by her.

Parker S Huntington does it again

I loved the story of Lucy and Asher, Parker’s writing is pure magic.
Unfortunately the Narration was a big disappointment for me and that’s why I couldn’t give a 5* review.

Asher Black!!!

I truly enjoyed this listen! Both for the characters and storyline as well as the narration!! I wasn’t completely sure about Asher at the beginning of the book, spoiled rich boy that he appeared .. but I gained respect and love for him as the story moved on!

The fake fiancé story always gets me at first because it’s a sad commentary on life usually, but this one wasn’t so much of that as I’ve read before. Parker S Huntington did a wonderful job developing the characters and writing this story.

Lacy Laurel is a great narrator and it’s always easy to tell which character is talking at any one time! This is no different!

Asher Black will make you swoon

I enjoyed listening to Asher Black. I loved the narration, it was easy to follow and the performance was great. I’d recommend this book to anyone who likes mafia books, rich business men, funny independent women, or a combination of all the above. This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I’m looking forward to reading more.

The whole package!

Lucy Ives was a foster kid, she didn't have an easy upbringing, floating from foster home to foster home. She hightailed it out of the country to volunteer abroad as soon as she turned 18 to escape her awful life and what it had become. She's back now, and her roommate talks her into going to a club on her first night back. When the unthinkable happens and Lucy is stuck in a situation, she makes a call to the cops which she realizes belatedly was the absolute wrong thing to do. When the mafia's fixer comes to take care of her, he ends up doing her a favor and sparing her life. Now he tells her she owes him a favor, play the role of his fiance or he will finish the job he was suppose to do in the first place.

Asher Black is the mafia's fixer, he works for the Romano family. He is cold, calculating, and oh so dream worthy! He spares Lucy's life realizing he can use her to his advantage.

Lucy and Asher have an instant gravitation towards each other. They keep you rooting for them the whole time. When things start to fall into place everything just feels right in the world. Lucy realizes she wants this thing between her and Asher to be real and she keeps reminding herself it's just for show, even though the signals Asher are giving don't seem fake.

This book blew me away. It was sweet and dark and suspenseful and loving and just everything all wrapped up in one. Of course I do have a soft spot for mafia romances, they are always the books I am drawn to. I love the suspense of them and the sweetness as well. You get to see both sides of the coin when it comes to the male lead. You see the lethal side and the loving side and realizes they are really just one in the same, they are lethal because they are protecting those they love.

Asher was the epitome of perfection! I was taken with him from the start and I never looked back!

This book was a favorite for sure and one I will revisit often. I loved it with all the action/drama/romance.. I just can't get enough of the Romano family. Parker really has a way with words and knows how to keep you engulfed in a book so much to where you forget where you are. You feel as though you are there immersed within the pages, living along side the characters. They feel so real it's as though you know them personally and are a part of their lives.

The performance of this book was great! Lacy did a fabulous job narrating this book! I look forward to listening to more of her work.

Not What I Expected

Lucy is just a normal college girl who is studying and trying to make a future for herself. Until she witnesses something and reports it to the police not knowing she is dealing with a known mob member. He would have killed her for it, but instead he offers her a deal that she can't refuse. I really enjoyed this story far more than I thought I would. Especially with the way the beginning started. I won't divulge what I'm speaking of because I firmly believe in letting the people read the books themselves. Let's just say It made me think that the story was going to go a certain way. I kept reading and I'm glad I did. My thoughts on where it would go were so wrong. I can't really say that I see anything wrong with this book. I would have liked to see some chapters from Asher's point of view just because. I think I'd of also liked more information on what happened to certain characters at the end of the book. I also wish it had been a little longer. This has been a very uniquely told story. I am impressed with how the author could take a very popular topic and genre and make it entirely their own. The narrator did a fantastic job as well. I fully recommend this book. Be prepared to be engrossed fully. I read the first half in one sitting!

Asher MOTHAF*CKIN' Black!!!!!

Sometimes, witnessing something you shouldn’t have it a bad thing. “Lucy” witnesses what she thought was a crime, and calls the police… not knowing who she was dealing with. The reputation of Asher Black DEFINITELY precedes him. Asher wants to know who called the police and he does just that. They both have pre-conceived notions of what the other person is like, and boy are they wrong! With Asher’s reputation of being associated with the mob, he is in danger of losing his company. He’s being made to look unstable because he’s unwed… this needs to be remedied immediately!

I thought this was a great start to a series. It’s listed as 300+ pages long, but they fly by! The interactions between Asher and Lucy are interesting. As the reader, you know Asher is dangerous, but you also can tell he will do anything for the people he loves. Lucy tends to run at the first sign of trouble… as one does growing up in the foster care system, but there’s something about Asher that keeps her from running. Even though I read this before listening to the audiobook, I loved reading and adding my own personalities to the characters, listening to this story was even better! Lacy Laurel is flipping fantastic as Lucy and Asher! It had more humor in the audio than I picked up in the book! I enjoyed this one, and hopefully, I’ll enjoy the next one!

Loving It!

Whew! This book is so delicious and so good. Ok Asher Black has earned him a seat up there with Christian Grey and Gideon Cross for me! The story was excellent the characters drew me in and Lacy Laurel did an excellent job of bringing this story to life for me. I had my headphones on to keep listening even when the kids came home from school. This was a GREAT book. I can't wait to get my hands on book 2!
