Summary

Andrew Carnegie amassed wealth that inspired generations of entrepreneurs and industrialists. Starting with nothing in Scotland, he gradually built so much wealth that those at the top of the current Forbes list would still not be able to match him.

This audiobook presents the life of one of the gentlest and kindest men in history and the way he made his money. His fortune was ultimately almost three times more than the richest men on the planet today.

The purpose of this audiobook is to go beyond the facts of his life and present the events and consequences of his actions along with the philosophies that ruled his heart and mind.

Carnegie was not merely a businessman. He understood the meaning of life and how men thought, which gave him an advantage.

He began working at a young age, and the lessons he learned from observing his surroundings gave him the foundational structure that allowed him to build his wealth and etch his name in the minds of generations to come.

This is not just a history book about a man who did something almost 200 years ago. It is an audiobook about what it takes to be a man who can change his fortunes and the world around him.

Learn more about this business magnate and how he changed the course of history for the better.

Interesting but doesn't go into detail as to why Andrew Carnegie gave away so much money....I've listen other biographys of his life and other documentaries.

An American Hero

Interesting incites into a true American hero. This is a story that allows you to see the rich humanity of the man with all his greatness as well as his flaws. This is a story of Carnegie and not just a story of institutions which are named Carnegie. I really enjoyed the book.

A different look at Carnegie

There were insights in this documentary about which I had not previously been aware. I'm not sure why others here think it should have focused on his abuses while owning steel in America. That's already extremely well documented. They mention his ruthlessness, but clearly want to tell another story. One which I'd not heard before.

If you're interested in hearing the other side, just about every other program that talks about Carnegie does that, and many of them are just as well made.

A worthwhile biographies

All I knew about Andrew Carnegie was that he built public libraries throughout the US and that he was very rich. This biographies shows he was a whole lot more than that. He had real feelings for others and wanted to better the world.
This is a worthwhile documentary that will keep you interested and teach you things you didn't know.

Off the mark

The documentary is off the mark. No discussion of Carnegie's talks with major political figures. No elaboration of the strike which caused the death of Pinkerton detectives. No tour of either his Scottish home or his US home. No discussion of what town has to do to get library money, etc.

The Man Carnegie

I thoroughly enjoyed this biographies. Andrew Carnegie knew and understood that he was not a self-made man, but that others gave him the hands up that he needed to succeed. When he got the point of having accomplished many goals in his life, J. R. MacGregor gave back to Carnegie native land and the US where he made his wealth.
