Summary

A Pride and Prejudice sequel.

Darcy and Elizabeth's first year of marriage commences as idyllic as most newlyweds could hope. But soon, their tranquility departs, and together they must discover the finer art of compromise and understanding.

This sequel trilogy to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice follows the lives of Austen's beloved characters throughout the years, beginning with volume one, where Darcy and Elizabeth must learn to put pride and prejudice aside and become one united in the love and passion inspired by the original novel. Come witness a compelling look at the misunderstanding, resentment, and frustration that marriage imposes on two very compassionate, yet willful individuals, but also envision the vulnerability, laughter, and devotion of a husband and wife very much in love.

Just amazing

At first I wasn't sure, but not even 5 minutes had passed and I just couldn't stop listening. I have been listening every spare moment I have for the last week. I found myself angry, sad, annoyed, happy, gigling, sometimes even all at the same time. Would thoroughly recommend it and I will start now with vol. 2. just a pity that one isn't available on audible as Stevie Zimmerman is truly the best narrator, she amazed me by her talent of telling the stories and making the characters really come to life.

Outstanding!

This was a worthy sequel to Pride and Prejudice. I totally enjoyed it - as will any fan of Jane Austen.

Just too sweet

I couldn't get into this book despite the excellent narration. It's just too twee and nice.

Not for me I think.

I think this is most of all a personal choice, but I have several issues with this story. I am not very far into the book, a mere few hours actually, but I am already disliking so much that I must stop and perhaps start a new at a later time.

I understand that there are difficulties in a new marriage and that our main characters must learn to rely on each other more, but wasn't the whole point of Darcy changing part of his own character in the original to be better mannered and open his mind? I just can not understand why he has suddenly diverted back into his old self and does not include Elizabeth in what is going on. He keeps undermining her and she keeps important things from him as well. His behavior especially on the first night they fought was SO wrong. He kept stating that they would make love even though she didn't want to. I felt like he was forcing himself on her and that was so wrong in so many ways. I'm sorry but even though they didn't and they slept apart I felt so very sorry for her. I really do not like his behaviour towards her.

Stevie does a wonderful job of narrating, but the story itself has disappointed me greatly so far. Perhaps I will give it another chance at another time.
